The Fiio X5 Thread

Hi  Fiio thanks for the reply.  No that does not help me.  I do not wish to use other software other than Foobar.  If this cannot be done just say so.  I do npt want to recreate all of my very long playlists again for another program.  Sorry.  Any other suggestions within my guidelines?

Hi, Riley Beale
It is available to use the Foobar. But absolute path is required. So after saving the playlist from Foobar, you may need to replace the drive letter. You can use some softwares like notepad for help.
And you can get help refer to step 5 in this post: http://www.fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41783&extra=page%3D1

Has anyone tried 256GB micro SD cards in the original X5?

I have the 2.7 firmware installed and am having trouble with 256BG cards... Maybe the cards aren't up to the task, but I think they should be.

I had a similar problem with Samsung 128gb cards. I tried reformatting via the player but got stuttering. I sent the cards to a friend and he got the same.

It turns out that it was the cards and they're not properly compatible with the player. MP3 files worked but anything bigger didn't. Sandisk was the answer for me.

OK, thanks for that info!

It's too bad Samsung or Fiio doesn't build a truly compatible device.  I suspect the problem is with Fiio, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

When they become available again, I'll see about getting a SanDisk micro card to test and then report back to the group.

Yes, I think you're correct.

The Samsung stored files and I could send them back and forth. It was only the Fiio that didn't like them.

I wasn't sure whether it was something to do with the speed of the card. They're advertised as class 10 but they aren't exactly truthful in the way that speeds are reported apparently.

A bit like wifi at 50 but what they mean is speeds UP to 50. I discussed it with Solderdude on DIYAH and he noticed something about the Samsungs which meant that it was working slower in the Fiio. I can't remember exactly what it was though!!

I have no way to send you a playlist.  They are all at least 10 songs or more spanning across 2 micro sd cards.  Please just admit what I am trying to do cannot be done.  I know somebody else in this thread came to the same realization.  Admit it your products don't do that.

What is up with that aggressive stance?

I remember that someone did manage to get the playlist going for them even when the files spanned across multiple cards, and if I'm not mistaken, the process was quite easy to do. X1 cannot do it as far as I know, but X5ii and X5 should be able to do it easily.

Fiio told me this could be done when it cannot.  I was lied to and it is a huge part of my music is playlists and I cannot fully utilize them.  I am tired of Fiio linking me to the same page like I am stupid saying it should work when it doesn't help.  This is not simple or possible.
Fiio's instructions do no good.  How do I do it?

Hi, Riley Beale
If your music files are the tracks from .cue, the tracks can not be supported in the playlists. Only the whole track one can be created in the playlist. You can upload the external playlists you create in dropbox and send the link to us. You don't need to send the music files to us but only the playlists will be ok. We can have a check and find the reason for that issue. Or you can go to our facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FiiOAUDIO/, so we can communicate with you about that. We only hope to help you with that problem successfully.
And here is an example of the playlist:
A:\Music\Becoming a Legend - John Dreamer.flac
A:\Music\Rise - EpicMusic - JohnDreamer.flac
B:\Music\True Strength - Epic Music - John Dreamer.flac
Best regards

If you search this very thread, this is easily done and it's something many have been using for a while now.

Let someone help you directly with it and don't be angry with people helping you, the feature is there and 100% it works if used right.

It should work exactly like pointed on that page, the guide is golden.

Maybe upload the files to a drive/dropbox and share with FiiO or on this board so we would be able to help you...

I can confirm - I've had dual cards in the X5 - and had a playlist made up from files on both cards. You just need the paths correct.

I am not using cue files.  Just dragging and dripping into Foobar and saving as M3U8.
