I have found that version 1.31 was the last stable release for the X3 as it fixed the hanging issue in version 1.23. Version 2.1 is mostly a disaster. My unit couldn’t play three songs without locking up and you need a paperclip to reset it. Being that nothing has come out of FiiO to support the X3 since version 2.1 in December of last year and they stopped responding to emails, I’m not expecting further support for the X3. I think they are focusing on the X5.

 
They already announced (*not here, but at their own forum) a new firmware release planned at the end of March / early April. The reason it takes so long is because they are redesigning a lot of the UI / improving the code so it will be fairly major upgrade.
 
On the other hand, 2.1 has been quite stable on my X3. It is far more stable than the older version.

Let's see what they come out with in the next version.  Nice thing about the X3, unlike an iPhone, if you don't like it, you can switch back.

X3___keep seeing "dupes" of songs on SanDisk 63GB card,
when plugging it in __cannot find those "dupes"??

How do I erase the data-base?

And using firmware 1.2___ is there a newer one?

If you're on windows, find "folder options" (win7: open an explorer window, go to tools , folder options| win8: search in settings for folder options) go to the "view" tab, and DEselect "hide protected operating system files" then delete Music.lst, usrlocal_media.db and usrlocal_media.db-journal

At this moment firmware 2.1 is the latest version.

Are the "____" part of an error message you get?

Eject the SDCard. Do a library update. Put the card back in and do a new library update.

Did you try to hold the reset button for ten seconds or more?  Worked for me in the past when I thought I killed mine.

The X3 is fully charged__but will not turn ON ?
Card removed__it will not turn on__charge light green, 
tried pushing the reset __did not work,

Did it "brick?"  as in "dead?"

Will not even show up on Mac  desktop?

Again, wil not turn ON?

  OK________did  try reset button___did not work___tried the pin in hole__did not work__several times,
it was fully charged___pushing the power button while pushing in pin for
reset again, it powered on. Listening now___
 
This has never happened before___
 
Anyone have idea as to why?

about the firmware for X3, we will seperate it into two main step:
 
step 1:
 
1, new data base which will used in X5. which is very fast and stable.
 
2, added some new feature, includes DSD playback, and some other new small features like more cover support, albume after artist
 
3, some bugs fix.
 
all this is based on the work of X5's firmware, we have to wait the success in X5.
 
 
step 2:
 
a total new GUI for X3, and this will be the end of the firmware upgrading. the next generation of X3 willl use new UI which based on X5.
