The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

Has anyone ever removed their line-out jack and resoldered it or handwired it to prevent the loss of signal in either channel? I haven’t abused my X3 ii and have even gone to lengths to make sure the jacks last by sticking in a 6” extension cable into the line-out and never pulling it out. After a year of ownership the jack has already come loose from the circuit board. There’s gotta be a way to beat this without shipping it back to the factory or buying a new one.

If you can solder a jack, then of course, you can get a new one, even a high quality one, and solder it

I don't have the skill to do that though, and would probably advice to ship it back and see what FiiO can do about it...

Just purchased my second FiiO X3 ii on Amazon. Hopefully this one will outlast my first, which gave me about 16 months. This time I also purchased a 3 year warranty. I’d consider sending my old FiiO back to their factory for repair but I don’t know if i’d see it again. Anyone else had good luck with that? The FiiO’s seem like really good products as far as operation and sound quality goes. I can’t figure out where the build quality is at.

Just bought a 200GB (Black Friday) for my unused X3ii. I have a X5iii, but I was missing the simplicity of my X3iii with my slightly modified custom firmware. Loading music to the card and looking forward to use this baby again.

What is Fiio like for their warranty? My X3 Gen 2 is always in a kerfuffle whenever I use it as a portable DAC. It loses connection, the USB prong seems to be loose. I lived with it for a bit, but now it's just starting to not work at all (DAC function). I've tried many different USB cables and it's sensitive with all of them. I got it in March of last year. I bet it's far out of warranty.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. What's the firmware vestion of your X3II? Can the storage mode work correctly? It is out of warranty but you can confirm if it is hardware issue or software issue first.
Best regards

It works perfectly fine that way. I did notice the last time it was working as a DAC it would "crackle". It's refusing to charge now, unless the cable is sitting just right. I'm certain it's just the USB dongle.

I'm sitting on FW2.0 (just checked). NB W233b. But I just took out the SD card and put it back in my phone. DAC driver was v3.34.0.

When I get the chance I'm probably just going to upgrade anyways. I want me some balanced outputs.

Thanks for the reply, tho! I appreciate it.

I’ve got a X3II that no longer holds any charge, as soon as I unplug the charger it shuts of.
With the charger connected, the little LED lights red, and the display shows the battery charging.

I tried sending this message to 'support@fiio.net' but the email bounces with a error '550 Mail content denied' so I hope someone from FIIO is reading this.

I bought the player second hand so I understand this will not be covered by garantee, I’ve got a few questions:

1. From these symptoms, do you think the problem is in the charger circuit inside the X3II or is the battery dead?
2. Is the battery available as a service part or can you provide the specification so I can find one on the internet?
3. Do I need a ‘pentalobe’ 0.8mm screwdriver to open the case?

I hope I can fix my X3, I was enjoying it very much!

kind regards,

@FiiO @FiiO USA

FiiO should fix it for you, if you send it to them.

Doing it yourself can be quite complicated. Might be the battery rather than the circuit .

Dear friend,

It seems to be a hardware issue with the battery. You are located in Netherlands, right?

So you may try another email or inform us your email address. So we could reply you via email.

Dear friend,

The OTG function(which had never been compatible with may USB devices) has been disabled to improve device detection in storage and DAC modes by the computer in the newest firmware.

And if you need that, you could flash back to FW1.4: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7mvcs13orpxv760/X3II-FW1.4.zip?dl=0
