Make it IEM friendly if possible. Low impedance output and switchable gain would be nice.

Already have the X3 and angling for the X5.

of course, all our amp/dac/dap have very very low output impedance.

btw, is the gain switcher still necessary when the output power is only about 100mW

Finally, an alternative to the Clip Zip that we can recommend to newbie audiophiles :D

James, for starters, you might want to see how the Rockboxed Clip Zip works, it might give you a good idea to how to implement the UI well for such a small player

I am interested and hope that X1's UI can match/better Rockboxed Sansa Clip+.

My wish list for X1:
1) Parametric EQ
2) USB OTG host function. If OTG is not possible, I would rather get X3.

In my opinion, gain switch is not necessary with such output level. Insufficient output plus high gain may lead to clipping / distortion.

Wow. We're getting prolific.

To think that a year ago FiiO appeared to be backing away from this segment and will soon have 3 players

. I genuinely respect the fact that they rethought the original X3 and started over. Many companies would just patch a design to get it out instead of spending the extra time and resources for a redo.

I like the word AFFORDABLE! But the X3 at $200 is actually pretty good already, at least, better than iPods xD

Would prefer these to use better DAC and a more basic amp because it seems like there is no possible way for us to bypass the DAC built in it. On the other hand, the amp section, can be bypassed with the LO, so in the later date, we can upgrade the amp to a better one.

As long as the UI is smooth and simple, we are perfectly fine (I believe), but, would prefer extended battery life. xD I have also seen a lot of DAP takes way too long to read a eternal memory card, would prefer these X1 do not have these issues as well!

Prefer it to be slim, so that we can stack up a amp in the future easier! :D

Please don't locate the headphone jack at awkward corners...

Comes in several color choice  [FiiO's traditional black finish and in white version, maybe red ( I see your company has red )

If removing fancy screen and replaced with something like the E07K/17's screen for better SQ, I don't see that's a issue hehe

Just my though, anyone may disagree

here come with the first design picture.

The design of A is totally sweet. I've been dying for someone to make a small DAP with good file support, UI controls and the xtra audiophile features like LO and separate amp section for maximum portability on the go.
While I'll be buying the X5 I have to admit that right now I'm actually way more hyped and interested in that X1 coz ultimately I want something compact to be used on the go with iems.

Well, I skipped the X3 coz the X5 was already announced and I decided I could wait for it but now I realize that if I always wait for the newer model announced I'll never buy a DAP. It will just never end - by the time the X5 is released there will be a lot of new info on the X7 and if I wait for the X7 then by the time it's released the X9 will probably be in advanced stages of development and so on. So I'll guess I'll just get the X5 and after that  the X1 and wait to see what the next models will be like.

Now I'm torn - I was waiting for the X5  because I wanted the control wheel and its dimensions make up for its total size (wide device fits in my pockets easier than smaller but thicker), but since I'll only be using this with the one decent IEM I finally got around to buying, looks like a compact, control-wheel, 100mW IEM-specialized DAP is the DAP for me. Not that much bigger than the Clip, but probably sounds closer to the AK100 than the iPod Mini, with the latter's control wheel instead of the former's touchscreen.

X1-A version please, I preferred that shape of iPod Mini vs the other one the X1-B looks like.
