No part of the bass is lacking, I just find it to be a little too clean, in the sense of it controlling a reverb rather quickly instead of letting it taper off like what I'm used to, in say.... An AK100 or DX90. Amount, punch, and texture are all there.

Again, this was many hours ago. They open up after awhile

Shame no one here has similar IEMS to mine to see if there is much sub bass or not.
At the moment my choices are X1 or Sony A16.

I have the DN-1000 as well. No issues here with sub-bass

Coming off the Clip+, the X1 is excellent and eye-opening.
From the finish [If I didn't know, I'd never even think the X1 is made in China!] and UI [intuitive and very impressive] to sound quality and the Line-out function it is a marvelous little device and absolutely worth its asking price.
And an absolute step-up from the Clip in every conceivable direction!
The E12 will be arriving shortly and I'll be set for some time with an excellent X1-E12 portable setup.
Very happy with Fiio again

question about fiio x1's ui
if i group my songs into folders, etc by artist and albums. I know that x1 is capable of shuffling songs within the folder, but lets say if i feel like listening to random songs, is x1 able to shuffle all the songs in the device randomly?

I'm probably going to jump on one of these next payday. How are the built in EQ settings? I don't use EQ very often but occasionally it can be helpful... example, this would be a unit I'd keep at work and for the gym, and right now I have Zero Audio Carbo Tenores at work (Philips SHE3590 for the gym). I need to EQ the Tenores about -3 db at 300 Hz to get them to my liking. Eventually want to swap them out for some RE-400 but in the mean time I'm stuck with EQing. Easy enough on the X1?

Yep, EQ is pretty easy indeed. You can EQ 62, 160, 400, 1K, 3K, 8K and 16K from -6 to +6.
I also own a RE400 myself which I loved with the Clip+ and love it even more with the X1 :)
