No, haven't froze on me yet (knock on wood!).  Also, music library was updated once (manually) and it's all good, though I don't have too many songs loaded.  Maybe you have an issue with your flash card, something gets corrupted in there?  Have you tried copying the same files to another microSD card and trying it again?

Welp, looks like I put too much file on my microsd. Filling the microsd with audio files only looks like keep the thing in shape.

I ask, as this could be a potential home/office listening combo for me and I don't want the hassle of an extra amp (I've got an O2 at home for that).

If you're asking for a device that can give more better resolution, yes then X1 could be the choice. Does x1 vs clip+ has night and day difference? In term of power , yes, in term of sound quality, not that much. Is it an upgrade? Yes .
