I have good friend of mine who keeps raving about the Jecklin Floats he bought in the seventies, when he was still a young man.
So I decided to look those headphones up on the internet.
They are now in their second iteration and are being produced by a small company in Southern Germany:

or in English:

I have not had a chance yet to audition those, but I will certainly try to go down to Lake Constance, directly to the shop were they are being produced. In the meantime maybe we have members who own a pair?

Hello, I had the original Jecklin Floats for many years and in many ways they were very good but a bit lacking in deep bass.
I would like to hear the new ones too an compare them to for example the Raal SRHA1.
But the new ones don't seem to be getting much attention anywhere?
Nor have I seen them at any of the dedicated headphone shops or Canjam or anything similar.
There was/is thread already here but it died.
The starter of that thread has obviously moved on to other headphones?

I confess I am a nerd with a tendency to fall in love with objects and their history, rather than only on their pure sound qualities, so....any recent impression regarding the Float QA?

I'll be in Berlin for a business trip and I have approached the owner of QUAD to know if they can be heard anywhere there....the answer was fast and kind, but negative.
I am almost ready to go for the SR1b, but somehow curiosity about the Float QA is holding me....

thanks!

A bit??!!!!! Completely lacking you mean. Great dynamics however. I remember listening to a Projekct One track with a descending stick bass run by Tony Levin, the stick bass, on the lowest notes, completely disappeared on the Jecklin. It was present on the Stax Sigma, which certainly wasn't known for its sub-bass. It was like he'd just walked out of the studio door halfway through that run on the Jecklin. Even the Mysphere 3.2 fares much better.
The new version, I hope, is much better.
