Stax SR-2 on Yahoo Auction :

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u220740177

I regularly see the SR-3/SR-5 on Yahoo or Head-fi or Ebay. Sometimes the SR-1 pops up but it's already way harder to find than the SR-3 / SR-5 (especially outside Japan).
But these SR-2 though ... first time I see them on sale. They are by far the rarest Stax headphones ever produced.

They probably sound similar to the SR-1 or SR-3 : very midcentric with severely rolled-off bass and treble.

Yes they are extremely rare and they're definitely worth owning for historical reasons but because of their mediocre sound quality (compared to other Stax) they're never going to be as expensive as SR-X MK3 Pro's (the second rarest Stax)

Based on graphs and opinions SR-X3 mkIII pro seem great.

For the ones curious about the SR-2, auction finished today for a final price of 401000¥ ($3600).

Thanks VRacer-111 for your comparisons between the L300/ESP950 and HD 650s. This is exactly where I am at. I currently have a pair of 650s, have heard the Elears and am currently trying to dip my toes into the world of electrostatics. Currently considering the 950s and L300s. Currently leaning towards the L300s.

I can certainly only speak for myself, and I haven’t tried the Koss, so don’t give this any weight.
But I think the Stax is a million times more sexy than the Koss

I find the 950 quite bright in comparison. I would also choose the l300 from that list. Unless you’ve never owned a 650. Everyone should on that at least once

Though I haven't heard the 950's or the L300 (I own L700), I agree with Keith. Especially about the HD650....I urge you to keep them (in addition to the Stax), they are excellent to reference other headphones to :)

Just got the L300's in from an ebay supplier Japan. Left headphone clicks a bit when the cable is moved--rubber against plastic, not a driver problem I think; I got a squaretade warranty anyway. But the sound is amazing. Worth the money easily.

I'm wondering if my Jameco ac/dc adapter is the culprit of this terrible distortion I've been getting when the volume is turned up high. Do you guys experience this problem with your SRM-252s units? If not, I'm sure my adapter is at fault, and I might need to get a step up transformer. The adapter may not be supplying as much power as it's claimed to be rated at. When I measured its voltage without load, it's very close to 12v so voltage is not the problem.

I used a Jameco adapter with my 252S for about a year until I got my 353X. Had no issues.
