Well my friends. I finally have the Sony MDR-R10s. I've only listened for 3 hours. So I'm not going to write any serious impressions yet. But I'm going to say that they are legendary for a reason. The reason is that they are smooth across the spectrum without being veiled or mellow. How can something be exciting, but smooth? Real sound is.....the MDR R10s seem to reproduce the closest thing to "real" sound as I have heard from any headphone. A full length review will be posted in a week or two after my DAC has arrived.

To say "dynamic king" is like saying "peasant prince": how can a lowly dynamic be king? Doesn't seem to make any sense. Looking forward to hearing more impressions on the R10s, to see how this madness can have come about.

The are indeed the dynamic kings IMO, and sorry but the K-1000 can't even touch it (they need to work more in the 60Hz down region for that) also if the discussion about the "dynamic" word being a king or not was in reference to the electrostatic headphones, sorry but we have today dynamic cans can compete and IMO best in the majority of the cases the lectrostatic ones, being the HE90 the only excpetion I know off that still remain in its place...
