There was I last night getting ready to sit down for an extended listening session with my favorite tracks with my beloved Nano, Amp and UE 5's.

I got all prepared with a decent cup of coffee, the UE's hung over my neck when just as I asked my 7 year old daughter not to hog the entire settee, it happened !!

The dreaded plop as my UE's fell from my neck and both earpieces landed fair and squarely into the cup of coffee with a loud horrid plop sound!!

Needless to say I've now written off my UE 5's and I'm no longer a happy Head-Fi'er.....Least for today anyway.

Anyone else had an un-happy experience with their beverage of choice?

I submerged an iPod and UE-11 Pros in Diet Dr. Pepper recently. The UE-11s survived but the iPod was a write off.

You might be able to save them. Make sure they're unplugged. Since you dropped it in coffee some might say to rinse them out well with distilled water. Then put them in a container of dry rice, and put that container somewhere pretty warm (but don't cook it!). Give it several days and then check if they're dry. They might work again.

Thanks for the suggestion that's very much appreciated - it's got to be worth a try as I've not exactly got a lot to lose at this point in time, I'm off to give it a go.

Once again, thank you - I'll report back to let you know if I have any joy.

Cheers

Yes! The automobile has been the scene for several unfortunate events, and my clip would be the biggest offender. I forget its presence upon my person and end up dragging the passenger side resting earphones towards the console into whatever waiting beverage.

Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about your UEs. A friend had a similar experience with his mobile phone. He was driving to uni while eating breakfast in his car and had a cup of water in the cup holder in the centre console. Someone called him on his phone and he pulled it out of his pocket and answered it (illegal, I know). After the call was finished, he put it down in its usual spot while he's driving, the cup holder in the centre console. After he'd parked his car, he grabbed the cup to wash down the last of his toast and saw his dead phone in its watery grave. I still can't believe how he managed to do it.

My sister dropped her cell phone in the toilet. Don't ask me how...

A glass of soymilk was close to tipping over onto my iPod touch and my UE Triple Fi's. I was able to pull the ipod and earphones away at the last millisecond. Thank god I have the agility of a cat.

It's not as difficult as you'd think. I carry my phone in my breast pocket around the house. Nature calls and the toilet seat doesn't move itself... Luckily I missed out on a horrible event with my beloved BlackBerry. Needless to say now the button is always buttoned.
