Yes, it depends on how you want to go, but in the end I feel it will be the timbre and the all-rounder values that will make the NX8 slightly famous around here. They just need more reviews and more members to hear them. IMO
I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, because every set deserves a moment in the sun if it's truly engaging and in many cases trailblazing, but the NX8 will get famous around here about as much as the NX7 MK IV got famous around these parts. I'm not saying that as a d**k or a$$whole, because I still own my beloved MK III and I owned the MK IV for several years, but the NX8 (review and impression wise) isn't that far off the NX7 mk IV, you're getting less drivers, similar tuning, and at almost double the asking price. So yeah, it might be a really good set (the NX7 series was in my mind underrated despite the "intimate stage", but going to be famous? Let's get real. There's a better chance of the Timeless II rocketing into the stratosphere.

Klean needed a cable exchange...the new hub, dongle & DAP collectively provide additional transformational gears. Oh the choices now LOL. Internet radio: even those tracks playing at a paltry 128kbps bitrate sound somewhat elevated with the Go Link Max ? It definitely inspires you to hook up a keyboard into the set up and JAM !! :L3000: :beerchug:

When it comes to being "famous" surely being notorious is a more desirable tag? Cos notoriety implies "character" i.e. not merely chosen by consensus but has unequivocally shaken chi-fi up? In this regard the role of the "Disruptor" is indeed imho crucial: to propel things forward. An interesting buffet rota is achieved by dipping into both worlds.

100% That's the way I heard it as well. Way too much inflated hype on this set by certian people. I am still working on my impressions but want to add a certian measure of caution. The NX8 NiceHCK is a great set dont get me wrong, but if your thinking about picking up this set wait for more impressions.
Meng, we know the gig. LOL It's to be expected just like sunshine in Florida and an old man doing the jitterbug at a family picnic.

That's a beautiful set up, my friend. Outstanding.

Seems like a lot of chatter lately about the Simgot EW300, and for good reason, it's actually an amazing all around IEM. I have a review here for those interested. It's my new daily driver.

CHANNEL CROSS TALK:

A small "discovery".

I was looking at something IEM related on YT the other day and this video from @redrol popped up as suggested viewing.

I had my doubts in respect of more usual amplifiers so tried it myself.

I pulled up a Left - Right channel test on YT and pulled out the left IEM while the left channel was playing and on the single ended output of the few devices I initially tried it was surprising how much very audible channel cross talk was present such that I was hearing sound from the right channel when it was only the left channel that was playing.

Plug into the balanced output and it disappeared.

For reference I used an iFi Go Bar, Gryphon and Diablo so I wasn't using low grade gear.

I doubt that the audible cross talk really matters in normal listening but it was interesting nevertheless.

EDITED TO ADD - I just tried a Chord Mojo (original) and a Schiit Modi + with a Vali 3, all dedicated single ended gear, and while the cross talk was still audible it was significantly less so than the balanced gear with a single ended output that is driven by two of the four amplifiers.

The NX8 is nothing more than the NX7 MK IV but with one less DD. It's sporting the same tech, and almost every review parrots the same impressions, which is they sound exactly like the much cheaper and sporting one extra DD MK IV. Safe but extended treble? Check. Warm and bassy. Check. Forward warm midrange. Check. Intimate but full staging. Check. The only thing where it variates is the look and build of the shell, but sonically, it seems to be a straight clone, and if you want more clarity on it, just watch Super*Reviews' video on this set. Save the $100 and just buy the MK IV, and it has the tuning nozzles, an fantastic cable, and an extra Beryllium DD.

I have never listened to NX7 but if it indeed sounds like NX8 at half price, I think it would have been way more popular 🤭

I don’t think NX8 mediocre or out of place next to P7 and Anvil. But at the same time, it’s not particularly… memorable. As I type this whilst lifting some iron, I can distinctly remember the midrange and the overall “feel” of P7, the midbass focus response and the uncanny sensation of the BCD soundstage of Anvil, but I can’t recall the sound of NX8 besides the treble and the fact that it sounded “good”.

Maybe I’ll remember after writing the review.

Btw, do you know that the pretty-on-photo faceplates of NX8 are actually printed plastic pieces? Not hand painted or dyed wood like other IEMs. It looks … low resolution in real life. Minor thing to keep the price down, but slightly disappointing to me since I like to look at IEMs in addition to, you know, listen to them.

Listening to my first song on the Fiio JM21 now. Way too early for impressions and well I am not even good at giving impressions but so far I like it. Sure it is not a Kilobuck dap killer but it is crazy what you get for the price. It responds quickly and it is tiny compared to the DX320 and the R6P2 I used for a while. I am happy I bought it as a backup device and hope it'll serve me well.

Edit: been over 20 minutes since I wrote but the thread doesn't seem that busy. I decided to not use the Origin for two days. The tragus on my left ear is swollen and hurts. The fit on the Origin really isn't the best for me but I love the sound. I don't know what to do. I don't have any issues using the SLT6 or the SP01 even now my ear is sensitive.

He gave 2/5 stars for the pula anvil114.

But, he also gave 5/5 stars to the dusk and
i would give them 2/5 stars.

Evidently you observe the universe from opposite points 😂

As far as I'm concerned, everything we say and hear are only personal opinions, more or less respectable, more or less technical and precise, but always and only PERSONAL OPINIONS.

If what we hear coincides with our thoughts, we judge the reviewer as a good reviewer.
If the match happens several times, we also judge him honest, sincere and competent.

But the simple truth imo is that that reviewer has our same taste and maybe a music library very similar to ours, and therefore reaches our same conclusions.

Only measuring instruments (which are certified and calibrated according to precise specifications) are impeccable within the limits of their declared characteristics.
We are not.
We are not measuring instruments.
