The moon is declining. I'm sorry to tell you this. As each year passes, it drifts further away from the earth at about 3.8 cm annually. Eventually it will be gone. 
 
But we should be able to adapt to the new condition of a moonless planet. The moon will be a significant part of Earth's history. It will be remembered and honored in the future.

An inch and a half a year? A foot every 8 years? A mile every 42,240 years?????? At that rate, the moon would be double its current distance from earth in 10 billion years.
