Sony MDRXBE60EX for $27.

I've never heard these, but the reviews seem pretty good.

Since when has Sennheiser done any such thing? They are proud of the fact that the HD600 is "old tech" and still beats out almost every headphone ever made available at that price. And they *should* be proud of that "old tech". "New tech" is meaningless in this market. Its all about sound quality (or should be).

Make an offer on their eBay listing for the HD600. He will likely accept an offer just a bit over $300. I'd offer $300 at first and then counter-offer something like $320 if he doesn't accept it.

so says the guy trying to buy "old tech"

They have made revisions in the HD600 drivers.  So no its not old tech.  580's had the anniversary edition called Jubilee (which BTW looks infinitely better than the 600's) and in limited quantity.  Sold so well that instead of going back on their word of "limited quantity"....they just made it look different and called it the 600.  I like the fact that my 20 year old hd580 is practically the same as someones HD600 bought today...or tried to buy them atleast.

Want new tech?  go get some beats

I don't think they should be ashamed for reusing their old technology. It's still selling. They should be ashamed of forcing resellers to hold a certain price.
