I'm really happy I have the D7000, but is it really worth having the D5000 also?  Did you mod either one of them?

good question.... please say no, my wallet can't handle it

There were some posts a few pages back about Jaycar's shipping charges to the USA for their FA-003/HM5 clones.  My experience might help people who are considering buying these.

If you order from jaycar.us, you'll see that orders between $50.00 and $100.99 are charged $20 shipping.  So whether you buy one headphone ($50) or two ($100), you'll get charged $20 shipping on the checkout page.  However, I ordered two of them for $100+20 = $120, and after several days got an email asking for an additional $38.10 to cover shipping.  Here was their explanation:

When you order online, we follow the order total price to charge customer freight. DHL service assesses charges for parcels according to the weight. If the shipping costs not mush, we always cover whole extra shipping price. For example, if you buy 1 of AA2065, DHL charges us $31.20usd, we charge customer only $20usd and will pay the extra part $11.20usd to DHL. For this order, DHL service charges us $58.10usd. We are unable to cover too much

This of course is totally reasonable.  I changed my order to one unit for $20 shipping.  I wanted to pass this along to anyone else who had the idea, like I had, to get an additional for no extra shipping.

Wait I need to explain, I just got my first Denon this week the D5000 and as soon I started listening I thought I need to have the D7000 as well, mainly because they are being discontinued. So atm I'm waiting to receive the D7000. Having said that I don't think I'll be keeping both in the long run, my wife would kill me

What, I just ordered two last night since shipping is the same!  Did they ask for more money before or after they shipped? That's crazy, it's their webpage that says it's $20 and they should stand by their own webpage.

Haha, headfiers don't need warmth and comfort as long as it comes from their cans :)  Well, I'm glad I have the D7000 and probly won't need to worry about whether the D5000 are any better (sigh)

I was told there are no more in the channel except what the retailers have now, I wish you luck though.

They asked before shipping, to give the option of paying or canceling.  They were quick to answer questions over email, adjust my order as I requested, and ship it -- all within about two hours.

If you read their response closely, you will see that they are being quite reasonable.  You can't expect them to eat $38.10 on a $120 order.  Just be thankful that they're willing to eat $11.20 on a $70 order.  If they had a more sophisticated online shipping calculation during the order process, you'd probably end up paying more.

I don't find that reasonable at all. I can't imagine it would be very difficult to just use an accurate shipping calculator. Most other websites manage to do it. If it says $20 when I check out, that's what I would've paid or they would've lost my business completely.

Ah.

Well I got the d2000s for $200 from J&R, anyone know if they are worth it to pay ~70 more and get them from somewhere else? Or should I just see if they do get more in, and if not just get something else?

It's still worth it
