No, what he meant was Hifiman has dropped the retail price of the Edition X v2 to $1299 recently, this is not a "sale" price. It would have to sell for less to be considered a discount now.

For the V2, yes. I don't know if the original has been permanently dropped, but most places are selling it at various discounts ever since the new version came out.
