Why would you think that today is supposed to beNew Egg's "Black Friday. Today is not Friday nor would there be any compelling reason for it to be black.  If there is some kind of storewide sale I don't understand it.  Is there a 20% off all items except the ones you actually want kind of sale,  or just a  "free Shipping" sale?  I will check back later with this we win you win sale if anyone knows what the discount really is.

Newegg wrote a big blog post about how they defended against a patent suit (some kind of common encryption method, though they reference a past case they won the right to use a "shopping cart" for customers to gather and add up items cost before purchase), and sent out an email with sale highlights at 3:40am (eastern). There's lots of stuff, like graphics cards and RAM that is almost finally back down to the costs I bought three years ago, but relevant to Head-Fi there's a pretty small selection of Bluetooth headsets, Klipsch IEMs (like the X5 for $60, supposed to be very comfy), and Sennheiser HD518 ($55).

The sale, Headphone department:

I know these are Monster IEMs and all - but the Diesel Vektr IEM with Control Talk have come down from $249 to $26 bucks at Wal-Mart for a new pair - lol...

(The on-ears are like $60)

That's cheap for a pair of IEMs that aren't all that bad

Those mofi headphones from blue are 200 today from frys with promo code. At worm so cant post the link.

What was the ultimate verdict on these any good?

I find that they're only so-so when using the built-in amp. I didn't care for them in passive mode. For me it's effectively a wired headphone that you'll need to charge almost daily if you listen to a lot throughout the day. They're pretty damn comfortable thanks to the hinge system, but that adds a fair amount of weight.

  mine were $208.00 from AWD
had a dented box headphones were as new

Same here. Really glad I jumped on these for that price. Liked them so much I sold my 600's for more than I paid for the 650's!

I was curious to see which better over ear, on earetc.  headphones Walmart sells.  The answer,..... sorta none, the most expensive are Beats, they carry Sony, JVC, etc. but only lower price models.

I paid too much for my HD650's...it was right before they started going on sale regularly.  I have been through a lot of headphones, trying to identify my preference.  I'm settled in on the Fostex TH900's for my dynamics and Stax SR-007A's for my e-stats, but I cannot get myself to sell my HD650's.  I like them.  Don't listen to them much these days, but I'm not going to give them away.  Clamping force was my only complaint and that can be adjusted if you're smart and gentle with it.

I actually find the 650 to be among my most comfortable headphones, though it doesn't get much listening time since I got the HE-1000 and other headphones. Do find I like them when I put them on, though.

I wouldn't put this out on the Stax thread, but I'm finding my TH900's are probably as good as my Stax SR-007A's.  Both are well amplified and both fed by a good DAC (the same DAC in both cases, different amp's obviously).  The TH900's are a bit more fun due to the deep bass and a bit more comfortable.  I also like that they're closed when there's too much ambient noise.

Got a great deal on the TH900's through Razor Dog thanks to a member on this thread.

Where do you guys get HD650s for under $300?  I need a backup pair.

To make the HD650s more comfy, find a small hardbound book (children's books are best) that approximates the size of your head, and place the book between the left and right side of the headband just above the drivers when not in use.  After a couple of days, the HD650 will be stretched to size.  It will revert back, so may need to do this a couple of times.
