The X2. My understanding was that the X2HR was sonically identical. Are they actually different?

I've read that there are small physical differences in the pads (very small), and also small sonic differences, probably resulting from tweak of the pads. I wouldn't expect any of these differences to be significant in real use, though...I mean, same frame, same driver.

Do you know if the pads are glued on?

Not glued on...at least, my X2s aren't glued on. They're affixed with 4 locking pins that stand out @90 degrees from the earpad itself.

This makes pad rolling quite challenging, though it can be done/I have done it.

Yes. This was all hammered out in the X2 thread. There was speculation for a long time, until some individual members were able to A/B both. Also someone conversed with a Philips engineer, who verified that the sound tuning was slightly tweaked for the X2HR.

In addition to the slightly tweaked sound tuning, Philips revised the headband and ear pad material.

Is Newegg safe to buy from now? They were hacked and CC info skimmed during transactions.
It appears it was only 15 lines of JavaScript to route all the credit data to another site! Wow. Smart criminals.

Newegg said the malware has been pulled off its site. The retailer will publish an FAQ on the incident by Friday.

I use python “import” for more than 15 lines of code.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I've bought a ton of stuff (all computer- and/or home office-related) from NewEgg over the years. Always regarded them as a top online retailer...

I believe so. I didn't put those lines of code there, though. :)

Massdrop are about to launch a drop for the MrSpeakers Ether CX.

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-mrspeakers-ether-cx-closed-headphones

In short: Ether C with an updated tuning, non-swivel cups (like Aeon), no hard case, XLR cable + 6.35mm -> 3.5mm adapter for $899 ($100 less than the refurbished Ether C's).

Not a bad deal if you ask me, however I currently have a set of Ether's in for upgrade to Ether C Flow, so it's safe to say, I'm out of this drop :)
