Better square wave response, deeper bass extension, more balanced treble, and most importantly, substantially lower THD across the audio spectrum (which with better sources and amps is quite noticeable). I can't see anywhere, in objective tests, where the 500s are better.
He's entitled to his own opinion as you are to yours.
Also, "dominate" is a a bit of a strong word, isn't it?

Objective measurements back me up, but anyone can like whatever they want.

Last I checked, this is not CS or SBAF where opinions are crudely bandied about as fact. Some respect, please.

On the topic of square waves, the 300Hz square wave is actually more square-like in the HE-500. This suggests a more evenly perceived tone and even-keeled, well-grounded bass. Of course, Tyll's equipment is just one setup of many and variation and human errata are inevitable even in his.

Now, back to some new swell deals, huh?

Just stating the fact that people who try headphones for an incredibly limited time and come to a conclusion so quickly are usually rookies. That's all.

An insinuation of being a rookie from you? I'll gladly take that

.

If you can't get a decent impression of a headphone with one hour of listening, you probably won't after 20 hours.

All objective measurements you talk about are very small changes especially when you compare the large variety of headphone measurements. I would say these guys measure more similarly than differently.

Square: Maybe a bit better, not really anything to write home about compared to the long reigning champs.
Bass: extension is better <20hz. Most music I listen to doesn't have much info down there. With some mods maybe the HE560 will beat out the HE500 in the treble. Seems the HE560 has some odd treble ringing. You really should use CSDs instead of frequency response charts. They give far better information.
THD: If you can hear the difference between 0.2% and 0.4% THD, bravo!

Again, only said I wasn't impressed by them in comparison to the HE500. I hadn't seen the measurements, but it looks like they agree: One small step. I decided to return the HE560 and find the HE-6 or another headphone because I felt the HE560 wasn't a large enough increase in SQ to keep it.

And again, if you want to have any sort of meaningful discussion, let's direct it here:

The warehouse deals and open-box shoppers thank you!

on a deal note, Beyer DT1350 refurbs are still $110. Was better at $90 during BF but still pretty good:

So what you're saying here is that the HE-400i is pretty much just as good as the HE-560.

Which was mentioned in the video.

Worse square wave, double the THD (which is noticeable). No, I wouldn't say that at all.

THD: If you can hear the difference between 0.2% and 0.4% THD, bravo!

*looks again*

You're off. Yes, the difference is noticeable, the 560s are made to a tighter tolerance with a thinner membrane, that's from Dr Fang Bian himself.

Sorry for non-Deal stuff. Hey, here's these for $129

Not sure I saw this one, but the Beyerdynamic Lightweight Headphone with Carrying Case
Model number: DTX 501 p
$35.99
https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-beyerdynamic-lightweight-headphone-with-carrying-case

Best Camel price, $45.41, and commonly sells for $65

I've heard these cans, and they are really good. On par with the PX 100-ii, if not better. In other words, if you are looking for very portable and affordable headphones, these fit the bill.

Bargain sites suggest: with coupon code VISA5 = $33 with free shipping

Note, these are white headphones, so they may only look normal on blonde people :)

So the limited edition part is just the all-black styling? No difference to build/sound otherwise?

Pretty much, I guess. They still look neat, and if you like the sound of Beyer's open cans these are pretty good. $130 is a great price for them.

You've got to be careful with blacked-out Beyer products, because the black velour earpads are different than their silver ones, at least for dt-990 and 880. The black pads don't seal as well, and tend to take away bass but add soundstage. DT880 with these is has very little bass.

Measuring quality of fed square wave ... every time I think I now have sufficient grasp of the hobby not to be completely talking out of my rear end ...

Sennheiser HD 558 featuring the acoustically preferred black pads  $80 shipped Amazon.

Good price on a good phone. No extra charge for darkly organic objectively preferred square wave enhancing glare free black pads.

And an item I lust after and is cheap but have absolutely no use for (major self control needed)
JBL LS305 Powered Monitor Pair $200 shipped Amazon - aesthetically preferred black version.

I snagged a white pair that I also did not need for the same price a month back.  Fortunately they had no stock.

Here, read a review, and you try not to buy it. LF and HF trim means they will sound perfect in your room. I mean perfect. And the square wave...you wouldn't believe.
