I know this may sound stupid...But I had a friend who had similar issues and what he didn't do was...wait for it...wait for it....
He didn't screw the adapter in all the way...since the beyers come in with the screw ins which he never encountered before..most adapters on the market are just plug in...
I know it sounds stupid...but hey something that happened around me so just throwing it out there

What's up with all these defective units showing up all of a sudden. I thought Germans were careful with their stuff :p

This has been happening at an alarming rate lately. Before, I never heard things like this about any Beyer. Now we've head two or three in this thread the past few months. Granted, given the topic, we're more likely to hear about these kinds of things, but still.

Wow really? Absurd. I've never had any issues with Beyers ever before today. I thought it was just an unfortunate occurrence for me. If my exchanged pair comes in defective as well I think I'll send them to Beyer directly.

This is a pain to hear :/

I've owned 3 beyers and never had any issues ever... hoping when and IF I get a T90 I don't hear any of this nonsense!

I've got a 32 ohm DT 880 coming next week. I'm giving them to my brother for christmas. Here's to hoping they don't have any of those issues either.

I've bought... let's see... two DT 770 Premium 600 ohm, a DT 880 Pro, several DT 235's for friends and family, and a DT 1350, and none of them have had any issues whatsoever.

I've bought a dt770 Pro/80 , dt880 prem/600, dt990 prem/600, T90 and dt1350. Mostly for myself tho. :D

On the topic of newer Beyers quality issue, my set of T90s only had a minor issue, nothing effecting operations but the plastic ring that holds the pads to the hp itself is slightly malformed. Instead of being uniformed, one side is thinner

The Ocean is what I've been using and I love it. It's my first tube amp though so I'm not well versed. I am going to be getting a new tube for it though, everyone seems to recommend a 12au7 RCA amp off ebay.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap tube amps (definitely under $150) for the DT 880 250 ohm model?  The Bravo Audio Ocean seems to be highly recommended.  I will be using it with a laptop and Hifimediy Sabre DAC.

The Little Dot MK II will serve you quite nicely with many a cheap tube available to roll if you choose to do so.

I do have both Ocean and LD Mk III the difference is OCEAN is not that smooth sounding (even with different tubes which i have) compared with LD MK III.I even used my ocean for playing video games with Q*** and for that purpose it's good.IMO OCEAN is a good amp and i agree with TrollDragon But Tube rolling can be Expensive.

For me for that  price i would go with LD MK II again that is for me...

I can't seem to find any Little Dot MK II reviews on this site.  Am I missing something?  Thanks for the suggestion.  Also, I can't find the Little Dot Mk II for less than $175 including shipping, whereas I can get the Ocean for $120.  Is the Mk II worth 1.5 times as much as the Ocean?
