Me and a friend are going to build a PSU for a Krell pre-amp.we consider to use Telema Transformers but are there any alternates equal or even better that the (toroidal)Telema?

Also try Victoria Magnetics (http://www.victoriamagnetics.com). They can custom wind toroid transformers to your specs, at very reasonable prices. I requested quotes from them for transformers ranging from 160VA to 650VA, and all prices were good.

I believe that Avel-Lindberg custom builds their transformers for each order is received, at least this is the case with the hockey-puck style board mounted toroidal transformers. Therefore it may be extremely expensive to purchase just one or two units.
