If I have no choice but to use a portable amp, what would be the best amp for full-sized headphones, assuming money's no object?
 
Like I mean the absolute best, even if it costs a leg or something.

awesome portable amp comparison thread. looks like the contenders for best portable amp are the Triad Audio Lisa III, the Meier Audio Stepdance, the Ray Samuels Audio The Protector, and the MST FI.Quest

I really want to see you send Triad Audio $950+postage (Lisa III + PSU) without so much as a grimace. If you have that kind of money lying around, you might be happier in the 'High End' forum.

Ray Samuels SR71B. 
 
The Ibasso PB2 coming out next week may be even better than that amp, and it is definitely going to be cheaper. 
 
BTW, both these amps are balanced but can be used single ended with excellent results as well.
