Good Evening/morning/afternoon whatever it is where you are ,

Ive just ordered a Little Dot 2+ and am looking for some new headphones , Im currently looking at Grado SR325i , Senn HD600 & Senn HD650

I use Grado SR-60's at the moment but would like an allround improvement - never heard the Senns but they seem highly rated......

Thanks in advance for any advice ,

James.

Add the HD595 to the list too.....not sure what kind of music you listen to, but the HD595 and HD600/650 are all great phones. The HD595 is easier to customize for hard rock/ and they're popular for games. In general, the HD600 gives you a bigger soundstage and are better for accoustic and jazz music....since on a given system their emphasis tends to be on the bass range. The 595s are more forward and transparent (so that's why I recommend them for rock). If you're coming from Grado, you might like the 595s.....but then maybe you want to go the complete oposite and get some deep bass with the 650. The 650 is like the 600, only slightly tighter detail and more impactful bass.

I have the little dot 2+ and Ive tried it with HD650 and SR225 and i can tell you that the hd650 sounds extremely muddy and slow with the ld2+, but the sr225 sounds great, amazing low price synergy.

I listened to the 225, 325i (silver), and RS2 today from a Musical Fidelity A3.5 cd player through my LD2+ and I thought they all sounded great. I listened to Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Tool - The Pot and Rosetta Stoned, Must - Bubble Gum Sleeze, some Sheffield Lab's kettle drums disc, Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion. I liked the 325i's sounded the best. I used to own the 05 DT990's and currently own the HD 650's (which are very dark on this amp). The 05 DT990's were overly bright, but I think the Grados sound great and I'm probably selling my 650's for some 325i's. I just wish they went a little deeper like the 650's.

I think you're going about this backwards.

I'd find the headphone sound I wanted first, then use an amp and source to finesse it and get what I want out of it. You'll have to try a bunch of headphones, but I can tell you it'll be harder finding synergy if you're starting with the amp.

I think the SR225 and K501 both have great synergy with the LDII+.
