I recently took advantage of the Sennheiser rebate and bought a HD580. The total cost comes under $100 after rebate. (well, I haven't received the rebate check yet, in fact I only sent out the form yesterday. But since I bought from an authorized dealer, let's just assume for now I'll get the rebate

) After listening to it for a few weeks, I found myself enjoy more music with HD580 than with W2002. They are quite different headphones sonically, and very different in price (w2002 is more than 6 time in price). With AB comparsion, I could point out in a lot of cases that I'd prefer w2002, it's simply more detailed, more analytical and more fun. On the other hand, if I listen to HD580 alone without comparing to w2002, I can totally enjoy it without complains. In fact, I found myself enjoy more CDs (different types of musics, good and not so good recording) with HD580 than with w2002. You can call me crazy, but if I'm only allowed to keep only one headphone, I'll probably pick HD580.

Now I'm tempted to buy an upgrade cable (almost twice the cost of the headphone itself

), or may be take advantage of the rebate even more and get a HD600...

Glad you like the HD580s

Trouble is, as you say... now you'll have to spend another $500 to get the best that these 'phones have to offer

Glad you like them 'as is' though

Your next best bet is newegg.com, according to this thread, you'll probably get rebate as well. Good luck.
