Circumaural.  Glad you asked.  At least you don't spell bass as base. 

I own the S4 and have tried the first two on your list.  To me, the TMA-1 is dark compared to the S4 to the point of veiled.  Much of the high end just isn't there.  I think the M-80 has a superior sound to the S4, especially in the mid range- much smoother vocals.  From what I have read, the LP2 is a bassmonster that is also dark.  Momentum is one I would like to hear and I would suggest checking out that thread for more detail.  From what you describe, you may like the M-80.  V-Moda offers a 60 day return if you don't.

Cheers for the reply, how do you think the M80s bass compares to the S4 as for me, it is that outstanding feature that I am trying to find in a headphone.

That's good, and I can tell you that a DARK head phone doesn't make Vocals or highs bad they just lack bright ness... trust me the XB700 are DARK which is why I went with the dt 880, because they are m uch brighter! 
 
So if ur only listening to Dark Music get a dark can, but don't try to enjoy something like Nujabes [which has a wonderfully smooth brightness] on a dark can... cuz it just lacks that MAGIC :/

Makes sense and that's the crux of the matter, I have massively varied musical tastes. The only genre's that I am not listening to often are opera, jazz, dance (but some trance), new age and world music. In all cases I like to hear the bass as intended, be it high impact, deep and resonant (think classical organ), rhythmic or electronic (not dubstep per se) such as VNV Nation etc.

From what I recall, there is not a huge difference in the bass, maybe more on the M-80, but if I had to decide between the S4 and M-80 it is a no-brainer for the M-80 if you don't have a specific need for an IEM.

Indeed, and in that case you want to capture the magic and then EQ and amp for bass, dark is dark you can never make it bright but Bright you can make a litlte darker.... more treble in eq doesn't = Magically bright, it's usually ends up as harsh. But more bass does make things Darker without becoming ot muddy

I prefer a dark phone and EQ the treble to where I like it.

Granted that may be so but I can never eq Magically Bright, yea I can make it loud but I can't make it SING beautifully! I need better cans for that, and again the XB700 has recessed everything that's not Sub Bass so there's that <3

I didn't find the highs recessed on XB700, I'd put the highs neutral/very slightly emphasized which Tyll also seems to agree with in his XB series review but the midrange, especially the lower-mids (500~1000Hz range especially which is critical for vocals and instruments to sound "fullbodied") are recessed though, XB700 is a bit V-shape frequency response.

Well I modded my XB's which makes the whole can A LOT darker, and yea your right [I'm so used to having a DARK eq that I forget about them] but when I first had my un modded XB's the highs where slighty emphasized.
 
But regardless of the highs the mids r dead e.e, which is why I only play Dub Step on them... can't enjoy any DnB >.>
