The R10 is slightly overrated due to rarity and prestige. If it was produced today I don't think it would command a price significantly higher than the W3000 or TH-900; it's certainly not superior to the latter at a technical level.

I miss my W3000 and regret selling them. I actually used to run them from the same setup as you (assuming you're using the Peachtree Nova).

 
So, I used to have it with the Peachtree Nova as DAC + amp.  It works well, but it has little space.  On the Nova alone, I prefer the W1000X.
 
Then I added the Aune T1 as source, using the Nova only as amp.  This combo is really good.  The W3000 get mores space and shines.
 
Recently I got the Svetlana 2.  Now, the W3000 sounds really insanely awesome, even from different sources.
 
I'll post impressions on the W3000 + Svetlana soon.

Yep, it was your posts or a pm early on that pushed me over the edge to get these,  i think in relation to the Ed8 or Dx1000. I am so glad i did.  At the time i picked them up for just under a thousand with free shipping.  What a steal for the magnificent phones.

Anyone has come across the W3000ANV/Chord HUGO combo? If so, how is the sound impression, comparing with Yamamoto HA-02, Sventlana 2 or any other amps you've experienced?

It's definitely perfect for me, the Svetlana W3k combo. I've been guilty of not coming back for months because I've found headphone nirvana.

Dethroning a couple of the older closed flagships is no small feat.  Three closed headphones enter, only one survives to stay in Skylab's collection!
