Happy Thanksgiving fellow loungers!
Word of the Week - Man
oh man.... too many choices, too many that I want to post... but....
I have to do this one. I saw Billy Joel in concert so many times in the 80's with my best friend in Detroit, Toledo, Ann Arbor. He was younger then ... so was I. He is older in this video which I had never seen before. He is pretty funny. Worth a watch.
Brilliant! I'd never seen this before. Mind you, I only heard Piano Man for the first time a couple of months ago
That Bob Dylan impression is hilariously spot on
Which reminds me..
WOW:
I was going to post a Bob Dylan song here, then got to thinking about other 'Man' songs and came up with about 15!
Not having a clue how to narrow it down to even 3, I realised by happy coincidence that three of them were by the same artist and indeed from the very same album (When You Were Sweet Sixteen) - not that you'd know it from the random videos I managed to track down on YouTube! So that kind of solved my dilemma for me
So here, Laydeez and Gentlemen, I present to you Dublin's finest folksters: The Fureys (and Davey Arthur)
First up, a beautiful song for a father who passed away. It moves me to tears every time, and my father thankfully is still alive, although fading fast:
(YouTube title is incorrect, it's actually 'The Old Man')
Next up, a song about a factory closing down and lifelong workers facing unemployment. Just as relevant today as ever.
Quality is just ok; there was a better sounding version there, but it started skipping at one point in the song (CD transcribing error I guess):
Finally, a pure instrumental, that's everything soul-wrenching and wild and beautiful about Irish folk music (and a quality recording too!):
Ah yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all our Trans-Atlantic friends (including those living in the UK!)

Saw Chris Isaak last night. What a show. Excellent performance. He really does the stage work well. All timed out and seemingly haphazard. Did one set for 90 minutes. Give a hand to his roadies as they rearranged the set-up multiple times with no pause. Just foot tapping and smiling all the way.
And loved his TV show

2010 blast thanks for indulging. Going to little dragons in the spring tour
Look forward to your impressions.
Tin t4 has landed. Got my free cable (linsoul refunded it) but waiting for BLON IEM still, even though it has the same tracking as the t4's... Hm.
More impressions on the T4 soon'ish
