About the five DAPS, three are OEM, two are main stream. The one that is certain to release this year is colorfly new DAP which is suppose to be as close as it can get to vinyl sound ( I assume that means including random popping sound while the music playing back :D ).

Do we have to turn the DAP or the memory card over to play the 2nd half of each album?

Right now every DAP on the market is missing something I'm looking for, here's hoping this one has it all. If it does, I'm willing to pay the premium.

and what a premium it will be.
Some of these DAP's are obscenely priced.

I really don't think the AK240 will look like that, but mention of 'Startac' does make me concerned about a potential misguided attempt to emulate the old 'flip-phone' style so beloved of Motorola, prior to the advent of touchscreen Android smartphones.

Hinged devices are invariably a robustness and reliability nightmare.

Pricing aside, I am optimistic that iRiver's engineering team will come up with a nice design.

Good Lord, that thing looks like a flatbed scanner!
I almost expected them to just glue two 120 together and call it a day.

i really do not understand why they went for the large screen approach, considering the one thing made ak120 stand out was its small and dense body.

rumours of the edges being anodized makes this sound even worse.

a new and more expensive HM901 perhaps?

Haha. Then we will have a DAP with four Wolfson chips. That must surely sound superb

Whatever the design outcome and pricing, I suspect many will be queuing to buy this new DAP
