Right on the money! Allman Bros tops the list.

This is both easy and hard at the same time.

Easy: because the Allmans are in a different class.

Hard: because in spite of that, I love Skynyrd!

But LS do not have anywhere near the overall musical prowess of ABB.

Allman Bros Band are a real solid band. Obviously the classic line-up with Duane Allman made some classic albums, but I feel that the current band with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks is also very exceptional. Both Haynes and Trucks play classic blues rock the way very few people do now - it sound like classic rock with a very classic sound. Absolutely fab!

I agree. I was too young to have seen the Duane and Dickie era band live, but I have seen the Haynes - Trucks era Allmans live, and they are terrific. I am old enough to have seen Dickie in ABB, and I am sorry I never did.

LS sounded terrible on tour because they were so loud. I think they were the loudest band I ever heard. To the point that the music sucked live. The only things that were bearable were the ballads. Their shows were almost carnival like.

The Allman Bros. were always good. Southern blues at its best.

imo this is an easy vote... I mean Skynard had some great music, but we're talking about The Allman Brothers Band here... The Allman Brothers, man! To me they were like the CSN of the south in the way their work has so much heart and soul. Not too many things sound as great as Dickey Betts and Duane Allman melting dual lead guitar lines together.

ABB by faaaaaaaar, and I really dig LS.

I am very ashamed to say that the ABB never made it onto my playlist until recently, although I knew about them all along. I knew Duane was perhaps the greatest guitar virtuoso of all time, but perhaps was afraid of being disappointed, due to unfairly high expectations. Glad I waited, though, because I am now mature enough to understand the magnitude of what they accomplished.

"In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" is one of my favorite songs of all time.
