Sounds great!  Thanks for the quick reply Warubozu.

I already Requested them, and Im anxiously awaiting the email.  They already have around 670 Requests, and I think the Red ones just ended within the last couple of days, so hopefully they bust those out ASAP!

All Black ninja K7XX are among the best looking open back phones ever, IMHO.
And dollar for dollar, only phones which compare soundwise are Sennheiser HD600.

The hd600 is too airy for me, would i not like the k7xx then? i love soundstage that is wide and great imaging but hate airy sound if there is no impact.

An open K7xx on a plane?  I hope no one else is on that plane.

Not as bad as an AT AD ...

I tried a few closed back full sized headphones in flights and found that isolation is nowhere as good as a pair of in ears. You wouldn't enjoy music with open back headphones on a plane...

Nah. Definitely more impact than the hd600. I think what he meant was the same level of quality , not the exact same sound

Does anyone have any info as to why these headphones are listed as having a $650 retail? The K712 retails for $499 as did the K702 65th Anniversary from what I read.

I imagine Massdrop must have gotten feedback from AKG about this.

Also, although there are contrary opinions about this, my guess is the K7XX is a K712 given the same specs and features, specifically the 3dB bass bump and memory foam pads.

MSRP has no real relevance. It is the price everyone sells them at ("street price") that is what the company actually expects them to sell for. MSRP inflation is nothing too new.

In this case, by showing a $650 retail, MD lists a 69% savings. My question is whether this is duplicitous advertising or is there precedence to show such a high retail based on the retail of the other 7 series headphones.

It could go either way really. I participated in the M220 drop, however everybody knows it's easy to get a K240 for under $65 for the last couple years.

I'm also holding out for the all black to drop again. In the mean time I'm enjoying the K553 Pro. My plan is the K553 at work and the K7XX at home. I'm a recent AKG convert.

There's a couple pair of all black in the classifieds.
