Just for the record I defo noticed a change over time. Everything settles down. Now superb headphones - keepers :)

Second best headphones I've owned after the HD800. Even then I could understand some enjoying these more depending on source etc.

Sure! I had a Q701 for two years by the time I got my like-new K712, and also had a fairly new K612 on loan at the time. Only Q701 mod I had done was a baby's seatbelt cover over the headband to pad the bumps, but it was obviously putting out more bass than the K712, and the crescendos were a bit smoothed over. The K712 changed a bit less, but they sounded nicer off of a clean source from the beginning.

Could any of the owners of AKG K712 Pro post pictures showing earcups with earpads taken off so I can see the diaphragm? I'm mostly interested in whether K712 Pro Made in Austra/Slovakia suffers from the same issue as Q701 chinese ones or not (bubbles on a diaphragm).

Sorry if there are pictures like that and I haven't noticed them, I have to admit though I haven't had a chance to go through 263 pages of this topic yet.

Made in Austria (I've never seen a K712 made in slovakia, do you have a pic of that?)

I do not have a pic of those. I would suspect the outside look does not really differ from Made in Austria ones (beside the lack of Made in Austria print on the earcup) but I am not sure about the bubbles on diaphragm.

I took a look at this picture http://cdn.head-fi.org/1/12/129bc4a3_K712-wo-damping-800px.jpeg and I honestly do not know whether there are bubbles or not. I can see something there but it is very hard to notice and therefore it may be just a light effect in the photo.

I can't see bubbles in your pic, you might need to take a closer one.

This are the bubbles i'm talking about (Q701)

The picture I linked is the one mentioned by @musiclvr earlier in this thread. Yes, I know how the Q701 bubbles look like. I can see something in that K712 picture but it is so minor that it might be the light effect and not the actual bubbles. Can you tell me when approximately you got your pair of K712 and when you got a pair of Q701?

Has anyone had any success on methods of thoroughly cleaning the K712 earpads (not just wiping them off)? I wouldn't be asking this question if not for the memory foam in them, not sure how well they'd react to being submersed in water.

If I can't get a good answer to that, does anyone know where you can buy replacements?
