On the advice of Todd, I got my friend to order a Scout, Grado Sonata, Grado phonostage and VPI cleaner. My friend has an axcellent LP collection w/ many rare jazz pressings, however he knew nothing about table or equipment.

Placed an order last week and everything arrived within a week. Cartridge was mounted and ready to go. Called Todd about 10 times yesterday during setup for advice. He gladly answered every question.

After setup, we tossed a few Blue Note mono pressings in the VPI and listened to the Scout. My friend was astounded. He had never heard his records sound so clean and good. Some of his pressings form the 50s and 60s sounded like they just came off the presses. In any case, my friend thinks he owes me big time for steering him in the right direction. I accepted the thanks, but also reminded him that I was just relying on a great resource in TTVJ.

Thanks again. You have made another vinyl junkie extremely happy and have made his vinyl collection infinitely more valuable to him.

Is one thread ever enough? Given the dozen "best source" threads I have seen in the last week, another TTVJ praising thread may bring some balance.
