Since Massdrop and Fostex somehow screwed up the order of the TH-X00s, I need some headphones! I listen to a lot of rock and roll and blues, as well as some hip-hop every now and again. I really don't know what kind of sound signature that is... I have a schiit stack uber. I am looking for something around $500, although less is certainly welcome. I would probably rather have a closed pair, but it is not a huge deal either way.

So basically they would have been a very juicy, lively pair of clean headphones that aren't too bright, yet clear, have a wonderful midrange that isn't veiled, and have a strong bass that's not even the slightest bit overwhelming.

If you can go for an open pair, my personal dream/favorite headphones overall are the Hifiman HE400i's.
They have a wonderful midrange presentation, extremely clear yet never piercing treble, an extremely energetic yet not thumpy bass, and should match really well with your Uber stack.

Though if you need a closed pair, you can always try the Oppo PM-3.
They're really balanced and don't quite have the same 'energy' in them, but have a really good sense of....how should I say it.......'accuracy yet calming beauty'.
Definitely check them out.

used X00's pop up for sale pretty frequently. Why not grab one that way?
