Test your headphone/ear/PC

-18db with an Nforce2 audio and Stax 2020.

The test is fundamentally flawed but a fun enough few minutes.

-36 dB with my TB Santa Cruz playing though Altec Multimedia w/Dolby Surround and a decent sub.

I think the Dolby Surround helped, it makes it ridiculously easy to hear clicks and pops on vinyl.

Nice test, thanks that was very interesting.

I *does* kind of support my assertion that many "golden eared" audiophiles are not as golden as they like to think though....

Oh, BTW, it was much easier to hear the distortion on the vocals than the instruments..

How does this do any such thing?

Are you serious?

You can only hear distortion down to -18 dB and it doesn't show you that distortion is hard to hear?

On edit:

I am, as hams say, used to "climbing in" to the speakers or phones to hear nuances of the sound. I have a lot of experience listening for various non linearities in sound.

-33dB with creative sb and er6. i got down to the one before the bottom then missed 3 in a row, then got the rest right unless not the last one tested(it didn't show). i'm gonna try again i think i have a better idea of how to listen now

i got a 24 then a 27 on repeat tries. i hear distortion on both recordings but obviously less on one (to a point anyway). looking at the headphone distortion graph for the er6 that's maybe not the recording's fault though. I was a little surprised when i checked that out yesterday for the first time

-33 db also. Using system in sig. I'm getting tired of Tracy Chapman now.

LOL, you have no idea how many times I listen to the same musical phrase trying to get the last bit of distortion out of it..

I have stuff that I must have listened to fifty or sixty times in the space of a few hours..

Luckily, I have a linear tracking turntable and a microline stylus so I don't have to worry about anti skating and inner groove distortion so much.

I agree with Duggeh, the test is very flawed. It was so hard to keep my eyes closed while clicking left and right so I lost my concentration. There really should be two keys on the keyboard that select A and B instead. Also, the quality of the audio itself is far too low.

The other thing that was very annoying was the loud click when each samples was played. Its sort of like change blindness for audio.

Might have a 2nd try if they fix those problems.

EDIT: removed results.
