I will tell you this. I have been doing comparisons between the MKIII and my brand new M^3 and let me tell you, the MKIII has been holding its own. I am still quite surprised actually. The M^3 is a very well regarded SS amp.

It does not have the depth, detail, power, or soundstage of the M^3, but the MKIII is no slouch. It really sings, especially with the Senn HD580/600/650.

To be fair, my M^3 is not fully burned in and I am using a Elpac wall wart power supply while I am waiting for my Sigma 11 power supply.

you know, you might look into upgrading your audio source as well. I'm not sure if you use apple lossless, but I've recently upgraded from ~160kbps mp3 to flac and the difference to me is significant.
