Hello!

I am about to upgrade my audio-gd.com Reference 9 with the TE8802 - Chip - upgrade. That will make it support asynchronous USB.

My main intention is, to connect the DAC by USB to the squeezebox touch SBT. This would potentially be an enhancement in audio quality. At least I hope so, and I want to try it.

However, I now I realised, that there are different reports on the internet about the TE8802 being properly supported by Linux, or not...

So here goes my question

Does anybody have relyable information (or better: Tried it ) about the question, whether a DAC equipped with the Tenor TE8802 - Chip will be properly connected in asynchronous mode to the SBT, when using Tenor's App?

If not: Is there any possibility to install drivers who make the SBT support it?

Any other DACs known that use the Tenor TE8802 ?
 
A couple I am aware of (information not in every case confirmed anyway, but just in case, ask for compatibility on asynchronous usb on Linux, before buying!) :

1. Teac UD-H01 DAC
2. Firestone Audio ILTW iLoveTW 24bit/196kHz, Adaptive/Asynchronous USB DAC
3. many other new audio-gd DACs and the DI
4. Peachtree Grand Pre / Grand Integrated
5. JoLida FX Tube DAC (probably)
6. Lindemann USB DAC 24/192 (they say proudly, that the have just the best available digital input available today... However, the USB chip seems to be a TE8802)

 
OTHERS???
 
Quite nice names anyway, they just MUST find a solution to connect them to a Linux-Based USB output!!! (like the SBT ) ((by async USB of course).

I had a nice bump in sonics with the Touch upgrade and spdif.

I got an answer from Kingwa in the meantime, he sais, that Tenor sais, the TE8802 is not compatible with Linux...
 
However, I asked a bit around. Manufacturors of other DACs, that feature the TE8802, say, that their DAC is fully USB Audio Level 2 compliant and will work with Linux...
 
So, I am looking forward to your test results!

My order from Kingwa will be shipped all together, which means, the two TE8802 upgrades for my DACs (Ref. 9 and Fun), and the DI-DSP. However, the DI-DSP was a preorder, and it is still not manufactured I guess... But when it arrives, I'll post my findings here.

I am also using Linux as my primary OS.
I booked Audio-GD DI-DSP (with TE8802) while I don't want to use VMWARE to simulate a Win7 for playing music.
 
How is your NFB DAC going? Is it compatible with Linux or is there any dedicated driver?

Bad news indeed! I can't believe that neither the Linux guys find a solution, nor the Tenor developpers enough interest to serve Linux users to write a driver...!

which tells us, that even Teac uses the TE 8802 ! Can't be true that they just ignore Linux... and with this, the Squeezebox USB DAC output!

TEAC sais, the TE 8802 works on "any computer"!!! At least on the german website: "...Tenor USB-Audio-Interface, mit deren Hilfe diese Komponente zur "externen Hochleistungs-Soundkarte" für jeden Computer wird" . Who buys one and sues them until they provide a driver to fulfil their promise for a Linux-user???
