Just curious who they are? Why they would spend the money on the mini when they can get a full size ipod for the same price. etc. etc. Thanks

I'm sorry, but I don't cater to teal, turquoise, teal, or pink

I see mostly girls using them.

I agree with D-EJ915...they're geared towards young "hip" people. I dissed the mini when I just saw it on paper, but I went to the Apple Store today and had a truly geeky girly moment. It's so cute! Its cuteness factor compensates for the price and if you disagree with me, then good for you! You won't ever have to waver over which to get.

i've had the 2nd and 3rd gen ipods, but i love my mini, i have about 4 gb of music, so it's perfect. i love the look and the size, the scroll wheel is awesome too. it depends on peoples' preferences, not everyone is a bargain shopper at Big Lots!

I use mine when I fly on short trips, plus its in the glovebox of my car connected to the stereo when I want to listen to various music without needing my CD collection with me. I take it to the park when walking the dog and it slips in a shirt, rather than take my 2nd Gen Ipod, Zen NX or Karma with me preferring weight and size to anything else. In this case, size does matter. I'd say the Ipod mini is great as a second player or if your collection is either below 4G's or you shuffle music frequently. Why does small have to be associated with being less manly or girly?

It's practical, sounds good with a decent set of headphones or canal phones and stores my contact list on the run. If they could just extend the battery life compared to the 4th Gen IPOD, then I don't think I'd have anything to complain about.

I bought a mini because I preferred it to the 3g. It looks nicer, it's even more portable and it's cheaper

I have 30Gb of music on my PC, but I use smart playlists to shuffle music onto my mini every 2-3 days, it's exactly the same as shuffling on my computer so I personally see no reason to get the bigger ipod. The only advantage that the 4g has over the mini is battery life - but the 4g wasn't out when I bought my mini.

I always figured the Mini would appeal to people who would've spent $200 for a 512MB (or whatever) flash player. Spend $50 more, get several times more capacity, all in a relatively small package.

Then, there are the people who just have to have a Hot Pink MP3 player

Audiocentric weightlifters, perhaps?

When I am working out, compact is a big plus. My full sized ipod was a huge improvement over the Archos + TA that I used to carry in a belt pack. Nevertheless, even the ipod was in the way frequently. The mini is better yet. I clip it to my waistband and wear my shirt on the outside, so it is hidden. I still have to move it around, depending on what I am doing (e.g. for squats or situps it will get under a rib and nail me). As soon as I figure out a horizontal mount it will be completely out of the way.

Another advantage: with the rounded edges and full aluminum case it is more durable than its siblings. As for color, since I wear it hidden it is not really an issue. I would opt for the mil spec hardcoat if they would offer it (sort of an ugly green).

Target Audience(s) for iPod mini are
-avid readers of Plum Sykes (henceforth, those who watched and ??still watches?? the now defunct Sex in the City).
-soccer moms (formerly known as housewives) who bought in to the trap of Oprah's Favorite Thing
-men who likes small things and women who like them smaller
-Gays- with all the subcategories I can't pinpoint which but the ones more like their straight metrosexual counterpart (I'm gay so I know about this thing

)
-Not me!

NB. Yoanna House (the winner of season 2 America Next Top Model) got a minidisc player from her dad for her birthday (or was it christmas). Like I said I know about this thing.

I've owned the Rio pmp-300, Creative Nomad, Rio PMP-500, Creative Nomad 2, Creative Nomad Muvo, iRiver ifp-395t, and I have to say that the iPod mini is the best workout player I've ever had. Coupled with the armband, I have not seen a nicer combo for running or working out.
The iPod is too big and too scratchy and doesn't have a decent armband case. The flash players are too expensive to offer variety on a run.
Besides, the iPod mini can use a line out to offer me awesome sound with an amp. It is all I need considering I've lived with flash players that can only store up to 512mb. I had the iPod 15gb but it was too big for running hills, and I really didn't need 15gb.
I'm a happy camper. I could care less about the colors, but the size and durability are true selling points for me. If you're even wondering why anyone would buy it, you're probably not part of it's target audience.
I wouldn't trade mine for a dozen iPod 4G 40gbs!

I bought a mini for my son. I have 30gb 3g ipod. I am a runner and usually do not like to listen to music while I run buy on some occasions I do. My 3g ipod skips after 20 min. I took my son's mini for a run today. I went about 1 hr 20 min and it didn't skip. I will probably buy another one for my wife as she is training for a marathon and loves to have music with her on her runs. I will use my son's, he is usually sleeping when I run.

4 Gigs is a lot for me. The only reason I'm not considering it is the lack of FM built in. Some people put more of a premium of physical size, not HD size.

Thanks guys, the reason I was asking was because I have a 3G 15GB iPod and I am considering going to either a 4G 20GB or a Mini, I just can't decide. I like the battery life on the 4G but I also like the size and durability of the mini. Taking all my CD’s into consideration I think 4GB would be perfect. I only use my iPod on the go and traveling….I would also like to start using it for working out. *sigh* what to do…
