TAOBAO GOLDPLANAR GL850 + GL1000 + GL1200

I have these up for sale in the Classified forum if anyone is interested. I have a my eye on a set of speakers and have to reluctantly sell the GL1200 to fund that purchase. I haven't had them for very long, of course, but have listened extensively every day in my home office and they are truly unique and extraordinary. I just prefer a speaker set up so it's best if others get to enjoy them.

Barely. I'e tried both the A04 and the A07 on the GL1200. The A07 provides considerably more power and thus volume. The A07 is definitely capable of driving the GL1200 to decent volume levels. The treble is nice, but I find the soundstage and bass response to be inferior to my vintage Phase Linear 400; the A07 sounds a bit sterile in comparison. That said, the A07 would be a great inexpensive starter amp for the GL1200.

Anyone can recommend headphone amps for gl850? Is it the same with gl1200 that it needs speakers amp? Thanks
GL850 is easy to drive. Just a headphone amp will do. Incase you haven't got the GL850 I will highly recommend you to get the 1200 instead.

Thanks. I got the GL850. That's what I heard that 1200 is better sounding but need speaker amp 😂😑. I like the sound of 850 much better than Ether Flow 1.1. Though I feel the mid is "missing" that omph feeling. I am guessing ty hats where 1200 comes in.

Which one do have? 1200?

I am searching for the pad replacement. Need to explore tabao for one.

I had the GL850 but sold it and gotten the GL1200. Over all cost is higher but it's worth it and much lighter on the head (420gm although it's bigger.

Nice man! Is it worth it to get the GL1200 over Focal clear and Arya?
I've not tried the Arya nor the Focal but I'm pretty sure the bass response is far better than Arya. GL1200 is nothing like a normal headphone. It's more like a personal high quality speaker system. However do note that you have to becareful when purchasing and if there's an issue you will need to ship it back at your own cost. I'm lucky enough to have a perfect set and steady hands to swap the drivers without damaging them. You can get the GL1200 for $1100.00 with two drivers on Taobao and the vidar is $699 or her the Jotunheim-R at $799. You will to have a good DAC too.

Hello. But in terms of sound is there really that much difference? The 850s appeal to me more, they are nicer, they look better built and they are less of a problem with amplification.
However, if they sound worse...

First was Aiyima A7 and then upgraded to Schiit Vidar.
Schiit is a valid upgrade? I'm using the Aiyima and I am quite happy with the sound: just fantastic!

Dumb question: Where can you buy a 4-pin XLR female-to-female adapter to be able to use the GL1200 with a Jotunheim R amp? I'm coming up goose-egg online.
