How is the Tempotec Sonata HD PRO with high gain mode? Does it create a good synergy with Takstar?

I have it and I don't particularly like it, at least with the Pro 82 v1. High-frequency sound becomes too piercing. How is the Tempotec Sonata HD PRO with high gain mode? Does it create a good synergy with Takstar?
You're talking about the Pro model, right? Sonata HD can have harsh highs, but on the PRO model the sound should be neutral. So it is said to be.I have it and I don't particularly like it, at least with the Pro 82 v1. High-frequency sound becomes too piercing.

Yeap, the Pro model. I bought it from this AE store around 2yrs ago: https://aliexpress.com/item/4000328408705.html.You're talking about the Pro model, right? Sonata HD can have harsh highs, but on the PRO model the sound should be neutral. So it is said to be.

Its been a while since I’ve been on this thread. Still own my takstar though. What’s the best amp/dac for them these days?
The synergy combos in the link below are the best.
Alternatively, you can go for BTR3K for wonderful performance both wired and wireless - there is a 4$ coupon in the first post.
Comparison of DACs/Amps
Takstar pro 82 arrived yesterday. I bought V2 version from Takstar store. I was thinking of writing a review after using it for a bit but I noticed a problem.
Both bass buttons are off. In the left earphone, the volume is 3-5 db louder below 110hz. The difference is pretty noticeable around 40-70hz. I tried different sources. I put the earphones in my ear reverse. There is definitely a difference. The problem is not with me. I think I have a defective product.
Edit.: I fixed the problem with the PEQ I applied only for the right channel. It's not nice that I have to use PEQ though.

Which closed ear at $500 has a similar sound to the Pro 80\Pro 82?
The Pro 80 is v-shaped with a touch of warmth and thick lower mids, the Pro 82 is a slightly warm u-shape. Tonality only takes you so far, because the technical performance of a headphone can leave you wanting a different tonality.Which closed ear at $500 has a similar sound to the Pro 80\Pro 82?
In terms of better closed backs, you're basically looking at the AKG K371, the 1More Triple Driver Over-Ear, and the Drop + Dan Clark Aeon Closed X, but they don't really share the same tonal balance, nor would you want them to.
But there's going to be some great new bluetooth gear coming soon, thanks to LC3 and LC3Plus codec options and Bluetooth LE via Bluetooth 5.2 and higher... with the possible quality boost to your audio, you might want a low-latency wireles experience from those.

I haven't heard anything around 500$ that resembles Pro 82.Which closed ear at $500 has a similar sound to the Pro 80\Pro 82?
The closest were Sennheiser HD820 and Sony MDR-Z1R, but they are more similar to GM200 - bassier than Pro 82 with less transparency.
GM200 still holds edge on transparency over both HD820 and Z1R.
im brazilian too, how is kuba disco comparing pro82 ?It's safe, you can even see my review there (brazilian flag, 1 photo). Didn't take too long to arrive and came well packed.
Just bought some other phones dt770, dt950, and i always come back to pro82.
Plumbus the Wise
Previously known as Dr Rez
You hsould consider the Fidelio x2hr. Open back but has similar sound signature and great bass.im brazilian too, how is kuba disco comparing pro82 ?

I haven't used the Disco in a while because it's 1st gen so extremely uncomfortable (otherwise I wouldn't have bought the 82, known for comfort). But as far as I remember, the Disco's bass ports are way more versatile. Disco's bass extension is not that great (specially compared to your DT770.
It's more robust, and completely modular. Soundstage and treble details are not as good as 82's, but the mids are really good, with great timbre. Disco sounds more close/intimate than the 82, with more presence in the mids.
Sound signature will change depending on the pads you buy it with (I have suede and aftermarket velour+pleather). I intend to upgrade my headband to V2, since it should have much less clamp than 1st gen. Maybe the new XL pads too but I have large ears...
If you want to watch some Disco reviews and comparisons I recommend MusiCafe and Rodrigo Esser, on YT.
Yesterday I received new Dac from Fosi Audio - DS1 (adopts 2 PCS ESS Technology ES9038Q2M, Output Power: 120mW(SE); 220mW(BAL)). I have no balanced cable yet, so I tested system on standard 82Pro cable.
AMBER RUBARTH, Sessions from the 17th Ward, DCD from Chesky Records -sounds incredible amazing!
82 pro- great is headphones, but I didn't think before, they would be more detailed than Sony XBA-A2. The music scene is wider and more realistic.

I always say that Pro 82 is so transparent, that you don't ever listen to Pro 82 - you listen to the rest of your sound chain.Yesterday I received new Dac from Fosi Audio - DS1 (adopts 2 PCS ESS Technology ES9038Q2M, Output Power: 120mW(SE); 220mW(BAL)). It scales up greatly, especially with the synergy combos: https://www.head-fi.org/f/threads/t...discussion-thread.849965/page-3#post-13495401
Same as with Stax 009 (I own it too) - it's the amp/dac/source/recording(music) that is the bottleneck, never the headphone.

Anyone have experience with fitting velour earpads to this headphone? Any winners out there that don't totally wreck the tuning?
