Nice to see them side by side.

I have the Kingston HyperX Cloud II, and was actually never impressed with their sound. Hopefully the Pro 82 will be heads and shoulders better.

I much prefer those type of pads that are on the Pro 82. I call them "panel" pads, because they are sewn together from multiple panels of material. The design is more expensive to produce, but they are more comfortable & seal better. They can also be customized with different materials for the face, sides, or inside (perfect example is the hybrid pleather/velour Brainwavz HM5).

According to this https://www.head-fi.org/f/threads/h...e-same-headphones.759851/page-2#post-11708404 Pro 80 already sounds better than HyperX Clouds. And with Pro 82 improving on top of Pro 80 - you are about to experience a significant upgrade in SQ.

This cable should allow you to game on Pro 82:

Oh, I don't game on them. I only bought them to resell or use for donor shells. They were a brand new open-box return, & one of the drivers didn't work. I paid $20 shipped for them, & had the driver resoldered in less than 5 minutes. The shells are worth that, & the Cloud II comes with an external USB sound card as well. A steal for $20.

Thanks for the cable info on the Pro 82 though. I could see that coming in handy for the Pro 82 or certain Sennheisers that have 2.5mm jacks.

That USB card isn't going to cut it with Pro 82 - it really excels with high quality sources.
Do you have a proper DAC and amp?

Yes, my comment was just referring to the fact that the NIB HyperX Cloud II was a steal at $20 shipped, & the parts alone are worth more than $20 (headphone shells as a driver swap donor, the USB sound card, pads, etc). So even though I'm not fond of the sound in stock form, swapping the drivers is a trivial affair & I could make them sound any way I wanted based on the new drivers chosen.

As far as music sources, I have an xduoo X3 running Rockbox & an iPod Classic 5.5 w/SSD upgrade and capacitor mods running Rockbox. For amps I have a FiiO E12A and one of the 'Pocket Class A' amps designed by xrk971 (a member right here on HF).

You are fine then.

Interesting. I've bought the Pro 80 about a year ago and despite the raving reviews I never liked them. The sound was muffled and boring, and they're weren't comfortable at all.
The Pro 82 certainly looks better, but by how its sound is described in the review, I'd be careful ordering a pair if you didn't like the first one.

I didn't like the Pro 80 in its original form either. I have modded it for myself and all of my friends who bought it on my recommendation.
Wouldn't describe it as "muffled" though - this may be caused by your DAC/amp.
V-shaped - yes, but mids are still clear (as recessed as they are).

Pro 82 is as good as it gets - IF you want a slightly U-shaped sound.
It's perfect for pop, hip-hop, electronic music - less perfect (but acceptable) for jazz/classical.

The bass is super addictive - you've been warned.

Actually, I see in the MSUR thread that you were unhappy with B6/B7 stock and modded them to get good sound.
So maybe our tastes aren't that different.
How did you like Pro 80/HI 2050 vs B6/B7 stock?

As stock I liked B6's highs better than on both takstars. I find pro80/hi2050 be a bit grainy up top. With two maybe even all three air vents closed I prefer B6 over Pro80. However it is important to know that my B6 is Msur N550. It has different earpads and cable than Bosshifi B6. Sound might be quite different because of that.

B7 was a disappointment. Excessive bass makes them sound way too muddy. I Like pro80 and hi2050 much better than B7.

Seems like we agree on HI2050(grainy treble) and B7(muddy).
Are you looking for a neutral or U-shaped signature?

Do you really want to compare the vmoda boom pro with this cable? Jeez the vmoda boom pro is one the best boom mics on the market. I will go with a 2,5mm to 3,5mm adapter.

If you already have the Boompro, it's the best option for you.
However, paying 30$ for a boom mic, when a good USB mic can be had for 20-25$, doesn't make much sense.

I enjoy all soundsignatures except extremely bassy/bass light. I'm not looking for new headphones but once in a while I buy one when something interesting and affordable is released. Eventually when I have more time for listening and money to spend I'll get something that reminds me of jvc dx1000 or Sony cd3000. Two most addicting headphones I have owned. Musical instead of clinical but not too extreme on bass/highs either.
