RX900 sounds like a big open headphone (it's semi-closed, like TH900).
It's huge though, not a great look in a public place

I liked it so much, that I bought RZ910 too couple years ago, but didn't unpack it yet.

I wish I could do the same, but In reality I'm a poor ruski student surviving on aliexpress. 200$ per month seems to be a joke for developed countries :) That's why I like Chinese brands like Xiaomi. They steal from the rich and give to the poor.

Don't sell yourself short - you can afford 3 Pro 82s a month!

This is my little comparison between Takstar Pro 82 and Focal Listen headphones.

Listen is not suitable for you if you have a big head or big ears, Pro 82 is much more comfortable. Listen is a bit W-shaped and the sound is in your face, great for vocals. Pro 82 lacks the airiness that Listen has but Pro 82 has much more wider soundstage than Listen.

Listen is quite neutral so these are not for bassheads but still the bass is a bit boosted, just like mids and highs. Pro 82 is more V or U shaped.

Listen can sound a little sibilant compared to Pro 82 but Pro 82's highs can have a metallic tone to them (you can hear this especially in hihat drum).

Listening to Listen's, you are in front of the audience, orchestra and singer being right in front of you. Listening to Pro 82's, you are in center of the audience and the singer is little behind the orchestra.

Listen's are faster headphones, Pro 82 might get a bit muffled in fast paced songs.

Pro 82's are more warmer, Listen's are more brighter. Pro 82's are more suitable for edm style music and Listen's are more suitable for vocal music.

A new hybrid amp has arrived - Little Bear P10.
It's surely is a good looking one:

Does it sound as good as it looks? You bet!
Here are some combinations I tried:
Oppo HA-2 - The sound is somewhat "tube-y", but not a great fit for Pro 82 - transparency loss is significant, and bass is not authoritative at all - there isn't enough "meat".
SMSL Idea - Since Idea is not a pure DAC, the sound becomes a lot warmer and just plain veiled, but the bass quality improves greatly. Oppo HA-2's DAC is not known to have any bass issues, so what's causing this improvement?
Could it be that P10 needs 2Vrms input (HA-2 is 1Vrms) for the bass to sound as it should?
ELE EL-D01 - You wanted "meat"? Welcome to the butcher shop! This combo sounds exactly like EL-D01 with FIIO E6 - there is a definite synergy!!!
Everything sounds very lifelike, listening to the same tracks for the 3rd time, I felt total immersion for the first time!
This is a very cold DAC, which makes it a perfect match with warm amps, and it does output 2Vrms, so bass is fantastic!
Since E6 is no more available, you can definitely go for this combo instead, although it's not portable.

P10 sounds a lot cleaner than Nobsound NS-02E .

If you own Pro 82, and don't own a synergy combo yet - this is your chance to get one dirt cheap.
Doesn't matter which version of Pro 82 you have, v1 or v2, as long as it's not v0.9 (a.k.a. "Dumpster" version) which is sold at some Ali stores right now, you will see how musical Pro 82 can get.

The cheapest price right now is here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/201...lifier-Stereo-Pre-Amp-Little/32882901310.html
The whole combo with EL-D01 will cost you ~75$!
At this price, you owe it to yourself to own one.

seems like maybe still a "beta" type unit imo:

Notice

· We recommend to have it rest after 2-3 hours work for its large power that not suitable for a long time work.

· Please keep P10 away from some high-power sources of interference, such as monitors, audio speakers, mobile phones, WIFI and other electrical appliances.

· P10 power switch Reset: if P10 power switch is locked and can not be shut OFF or turned ON, you need to reset it by the following steps: deeply press and hold the switch and then turn it to left and right for 2 or 3 times, then release it, the switch will be reset. If not, you can repeat that method for 2-3 times again.

and they dont even list the actual output power anywhere??

Most amps on Aliexpress are "beta"

It has plenty of power, I keep the volume between 9 and 10AM, depending on a track.

At 60$ (after seller's coupon), you won't find a better tube/hybrid amp.

Does anyone have JVC HA-RX700 or RX900? I've heard It's REALLY worth the money. I want to buy it to compare with pro82)

I have the HA-RX700. I don't think it ever occurred to me to compare to the Pro82 since they are very different in form factor, for sure... the RX700 has a very long non-detachable cable and is rather huge, definitely not well suited for portable use, unlike the Pro 82.

@BenF, I don’t quite remember... did you published measurements of this infamous v0.9 model? Also, how to tell the difference with the others?
Thanks.

I'll post the measurements and the way to tell them apart externally later.

Also would like to know how to tell them apart because I ordered a pair from Amazon and it came in the white box and 2.2m cable. The manufacturing date on the inspection sticker was from less than a month ago so I'm not sure if this is a newer revision or maybe even refurbished units?

Hello, I was wondering if anybody has the Audio Technica ATH-WS1100is to compare these to? I'm currently stuck between choosing between the Pro 82's and the WS1100is. I prefer a balanced sound (leaning towards warm), and will mainly use it indoors for music and gaming.

I have both. I personally prefer the WS1100is. I'm not usually a fan of Audio Technica because they tend to either overdo the bass (ATH-M50x) underdo it (ATH-MSR7) or roll it off too soon (ATH-AD900) for my personal tastes, but I feel like the WS1100is hits close to the sweet spot for me. I haven't listened to the Pro 82 back to back with the WS1100is though - I'll try to remember to do that and report back here if you're interested.
