Hmm...

I found it to be a different story...

The RS2s to me sound the same as the SR325s... in turn, the RS1s sound way better than either...

Strange...

Yeah. I agree. To Charles' point, tho, when I have heard both 'fones before my current overkill rig, I thought the difference was smaller and didn't think it was worth the cost difference. Only when I listened to the both fones in the main rig, I have heard significant difference between two fones then I realised what all the fuss about RS1.

I didn't like the RS2 at all and sold them, but kept the SR325 for awhile.

I thought the RS2, though more extended, was just terribly bright, almost like a high pitched whine that hurts.

Well, as you can tell by the smiley and the new avatar, I am now the proud owner of the Grado RS-1's. I do wish they still came in the mahagony case (I'll have to seek out one of these someday). I swear I heard a sigh when I plug the RS-1 into the RA-1.

So now I'll probably be away from the forum for a bit listening to all my music.

Enjoying the music.

Leo,
I'll be moving to Norcross by September of this year. I hope that your RS-1 will sing the sweetest tunes for you. Congrats

HI: Congrats on the RS1. I also have the 225 and after being very impressed with them in many ways I also just ordered the RS1. I am just glad that grado don't have any more exspensive cans to sell for me to think about that they sell today. LOL.

Well after listening for almost 2 days, I'm definitely happy with the RS-1 & RA-1 combo. The SACD's and CD's I've listened to sound great over the combo. Detail, midrange, it's all there.

Some of the music I've used so far and enjoyed is:

Likin Park - Reanimation (CD)
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (SACD)
Bill Evans - Waltz for Debbie (SACD)
Gladiator - Movie Soundtrack (CD)
Diana Krall - When I look In Your Eyes (SACD)

Have you been using it with the new Sony for the SACD?
