So it's time to hook up the Baby's room with some tunes. I want to put something in his room that can play CDs, but which also has a line in for an ipod and/or Airport Express. He is not yet an audiophile, so SQ need only be decent. I'd like something compact and relatively stylish, but durable and simple for Mrs. Monkey. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. But the whole RadioCombo system will probably be too pricy for his room. Plus, I'd just end up stealing it and putting in my office. But the PAL and songbook come in nice colors, and I could just hook up a cheap portable CD player. And then add in a DAC1 and he'll be all set.

seriously the bose wave radio is not a bad choice..that had one at pebble beach resorts and my parents were very impressed with it..it is expensive but what else can you get that is slimline....a huge ghetto blaster boombox?

I think the Bose is a bit much, but it is fairly small and won't take up much room. The Tivoli tabletop radios are better, IMO. And like you said, you can add a PCDP if you want to play CDs.

Sorry I had to lol...

Back to topic, like everyone else said probably the Tivoli would be the best way to go, or what about the Ihome (review from Ilounge) or maybe an old laptop, with wireless connection (stream from main pc?)

How about hitting eBay for one of those compact stereo units that were so popular a few years ago? I remember the Nakamichi SoundSpace being very nice. You can pick up a used one reasonably these days. WAF is good with Nakamichi gear.

Also, you might want to consider some of the older B&O gear. The Beomaster line is still pretty cool (I've got a 1900) and affordable these days. WAF can go off the charts with B&O as well. Sound quality isn't half bad, either.

LOL, sorry I could not resist being a fool. On a more serious note I purchased about 6 years ago the Model 88CD from Cambridge Soundworks. It is no longer available but now you can get: http://www.cambridgesoundworks.com/s...item=c174rczzz

It has received very good reviews and if it performs anything like my Model 88CD it would be a fantastic choice. Good luck.
