I have recently been listening to my Terratec EWX 24/96 using foobar2000 without resampling and am discovering that resampling to 96KHz was doing more harm than good overall. Leaving my music resampled results in a much larger soundstage, better imaging, a more coherent sound, and the bass sure is tighter. It does lose a bit of smoothness but with my PPX3 with RCA black-plate/cleartop tube compliment and AKG K 271 headphones it sure can kick some butt with faster music. The resampling was taking something away from the music and hiding details and made the sound a bit slower. Anybody else out there with a hi-res card that has switched from using resampling?

I havn't used resampling in a while. On my modded emu 1820m, I find no advantages to using resampling on my system at all. Resampling sounded smeared which killed the soundstage and other details for me. When I did use resampling, I enjoyed Winamp's TOP setting more than foobar's SLOW setting.

I have found upsampling to multiples of 48 to be inconclusive at best on most cards. However, upsampling to an integer multiple of 44.1 is usually good, in the case of the HDSP 176.4 is superb.

Yea, I backed mine down to 88.2 with the Echo Indigo...it just sounds better. 96 sounded so sterile and lifeless. If turning resampler off works for you, then you're better off not wasting the CPU cycles. Nice work.

I find myself bouncing back and forth between 44.1 and 96 on the E-MU 1212m I can't say I necessarily like one more than the other. I do wish it would do mulitples of 44.1 though.

I switch between 44.1 and 192 on my Emu1212m.
192 seems more "listenable" whatever that means.

I was resampling to 192K when I first got my 1212M, but turned it off a few weeks ago after switching over as an experiment and noticing that it sounded a bit more full (hmm, not sure how else to describe it) at the standard 44K.

The only DSP I use is Crossfeed. My output is ASIO (using 24 bits padded to 32).

Resampling sucks period. Use only a higher bit output. There is absolutely no bass on resampling, it seems to be losing out quite a lot of detail.

amol, are you exaggerating or serious? If you are serious about the complete lack of bass, maybe you have the order of your plugins wrong or something like that...? I know it kills the bass if you use resampling with the convolver if you resample first.

I am serious, i use only the crossfeed first and the resampler after that.
