I have been throwing around the idea of making a 1 input/2 output switchbox for my computer so I dont have to keep switching between sound cards. I decided on a 3PDT switch so that all the grounds arent wired together. Is this the best method or would a rotary switch be a better choice?

As for the case, I found a clear plastic baseball display case that I would like to use. Are there any special precautions that I have to take when drilling holes in this material?

you shouldn't have to switch the grounds, but it won't hurt if you do so the 3PDT swith would work perfect. You can use a rotary as well, they function the same way as far as switching is concerned, it's just a matter of astetics.

The material is just hard plastic right? I would think some sharp bits and not too much force would work.
