I want to get a pair of speakers for my PC and I've narrowed it down to these 2 sets of Swans. Is the performance of the M200MkII substantial enough to warrant the extra $100 over the D1080 IV?

I've read that the D1080 IV makes use of the same drivers of the M200 MkIII, hence its bass extension among other things. I'd recommend you buy the 1080s since you'll save $100 and you might get similar performance of the M200 MkIII. Good luck.
