Yep, I mean James Horner's "Titanic" (1997). In my humble opinion, this is an audiophile-quality recording.

If you don't have an unreasonable dislike of all things "Titanic 1997) this one is worth picking up imo... if nothing else, to demo your system. Dynamic range in particular is out of this world. I had some MP3s sitting around on my hard drive, and even high bitrate MP3 format sounds excellent... I just picked up a used copy at half.com for 75 cents (!) and that's what most of the copies there are selling for.

If you get it, check out track 7, "Hard to Starboard." Then check out the others. Great stuff to relax to as well (again in my opinion... but I liked the movie

(edit -- yes, the Celine Dion song is eminently skippable... no problem with the typical CD player tho).

Although it is a very dynamic soundtrack, it's pretty noisy(especially the first track), and overly bright in my opinion. But you're right, good to demo, especially that first track with the low bass hits

Could be it's synergizing well with my slightly dark HD-580s.

P.S. you want noisy, check out the soundtrack to "Cape Fear" (newer version with DeNiro). Never heard a noisier orchestra in my life... coughing, foot tapping, page turning, nose picking... you can hear everything.

Not sure what kind of noise you're referring to in the Titanic soundtrack tho (?)...

This certainly is a fine soundtrack, but it pales by comparison to much of his other significant work, especially Braveheart and Legends of the Fall.
If you like this one, you MUST hear those!

Thanks, will have to give those a listen... I'm a big fan of film soundtracks (my all time favorite is probably Basil Poledouris, "Conan the Barbarian").
