hi
i ordered a xin supermicro-iv last month but i hear from this forum it takes at least 3 months for it to arrive. this is a problem for me because i just bought an ipod photo off ebay to get it imodded and i wont be able to use its line-out until i get an amp.

should i just cancel my order and go for the tomahawk?
i'll wait for the micro if its worth the wait but im wondering if it will drive both my shure e4g and sennheiser hd650 nicely without a gain switch.

lol im getting desperate for an imod because my sennheisers are revealing my computer's crappy sound too much, and my shures sound cold.

also, how do both amps compare in size?
how would they match with an ipod?

Dont cancel your SuperMicro IV, keep the order alive. In the mean while I recommend you buy Go-Vibe V5s from Norm ($48) and ask for 8620/8610 OpAmps. They will keep you satisfied until you receive your SMIV. Of course if you can spare some $, getting a Tomahawk is highly recommended as well

I recommend this as well...I'm doing it right now. I ordered a SMIV a couple months ago and bought a TH for the time being...in the end I'll probably end up keeping both

Xin doesn't charge your card until he ships anyway...no immediate money out of your pocket for the SMIV!

This the best route to go when dealing with Xin. I did the same thing only with a SR-71. Now the Xin is my only portable amp, I'm pondering the latest greatest update and find myself browsing the fs section for "gently used" Ray Samuels amps.

sounds like a good idea, but i dont have the money to get both the tomahawk and the micro. im still saving up to mod my ipod and a proper cord for it from ALO.
how is the govibe? i think i'll just get that while i wait.

but im still curious if the supermicro can drive both my shure e4g and hd650
nicely without a gain switch like the tomahawk.

thanks

Well, what they're saying is PLACE your order now...and gradually save the money in the account (or just never let your account go below the $170) so when the order DOES ship, the money is there and your SMIV ships.

I'm tempted to do this, but my luck, the one time I DON'T have teh $170 to spare...it ships, lol. I really like the size a SQ reviews of the SMIV, but damn, I want pretty too, not something that looks like poo. Yes, I'm an image whore sometimes, lol.

Actually if you place an order with PayPal they charge your account right away even if it takes 4 month for the amp to ship out. If on the other hand you charge the amp to the Credit Card then Dr. Xin will not charge it until he ships it.
