how long is the cable that goes to the device?
It is about 24-30 inches. Not sure but you will need the two components aligned closely together. Maybe a foot or two apart.

I know the K9pro doesn’t need the PL50 but is there any improvement at all by pairing them together ? Is anybody currently doing this ?
Dear friend,

Thanks for your interest in our product. The PL50 is not compatible with the K9Pro so you could not use it with the K9Pro.

Best regards

As FiiO noted above, no. Why?

The PL50 is an external power supply. It changes higher voltage A/C current to low voltage D/C current that you then plug into your device (K5 PRO, K7, M17, etc.) with a small, round pin. It replaces the (much cheaper and simpler) power supply adapter (aka "power brick" or "wall wart") that comes with those devices. Those devices expect low voltage.

The K9 Pro has it's own internal power supply, so you plug the higher voltage A/C current directly into it with a large semi-rectangular power cable. That's why the PL50 is not compatible with it. FiiO designed that internal power supply to regulate the power according to its own specifications. The K9 Pro expects high voltage mains A/C power.

I just received a US version PL50 that I plan to use with the Q7, however I don't have the Q7 yet (and won't for a couple of weeks) so I can't check that the PL50 is working properly (I don't think I have anything else compatible). However, I did check to see that the PL50 turned on and was wondering if it was normal for the front display showing the voltage selected to remain on even after I turned the unit off? If I pull the power cord, the display does turn off after a few seconds.

Dear friend,

Please check whether the front display keeps remaining on after turning off the PL50? Or the front display turn off after a few second instead?
After turning off the PL50, there will be remaining voltage in PL50 and it will take some time for it to release. So if the front display turn off after a few second, it is normal.

Best regards

Thanks for the helpful response. I feel more than a bit dumb--I misinterpreted the symbols on the power switch and was turning the unit on when I though I was turning it off. When properly turned off, the display does quickly wind down to zero and turns off after a few seconds. As I noted, I don't have anything to check out the operation of the PL50 ATM (I won't get the Q7 for at least ten days and I have nothing else compatible with it), but it appears to be fine.

Dear FiiO,

On your official store in AliExpress, the estimated delivery date for PL50 is Feb 28. I wonder if that's conservative estimate and if I can expect to receive it sooner.

Regards,

I can’t speak for everyone’s experience, of course - but when I order something from the FiiO’s official store on AliExpress, those estimates are very conservative. I live in the eastern USA, and AE orders generally take about 2 weeks, sometimes a little more. The (much better) exception being for more expensive items such as DAPs, etc… where it only takes 3-4 days, since they ship those with DHL instead of the regular China Post & USPS.
