For organized information, I found Headroom to be informative when I started out. At least it provides you with some ground to start walking on if you have absolutely no idea where to begin. The recently updated Headroom site has headphone picks based on usage scenarios, budgets, etc. Here's the link for cans recommended for the iPod.

Check out the information and then come back here and search for "ipod <name of headphone>" for impressions on how a certain headphone worked with an iPod for starters.

Yes, but you will break your ears much earlier. Remember, you can't replace your ears so take care of them! More than 85 dBA is dangerous.

hahahaha o ya i forgot about me ears :P so i shouldnt really worry about the speakers of the headphones "cracking up ?" if i dont really boot the volume max up always (there are songs i just have to listen to really loudly, like the hotel california live version :| )

wait i just looked around a bit and the ipod can drive a 32 ohm headphones which is the one u just purchased... soo... i still couldnt find an answer if i could easily break the headphones by jogging up the volume too much ? i know it will break if i turn the ipod max all the time but id like to know what the safe threshold is ? : )

the threshold has more to do with your ears than the cans. Many people believe in burning in headphones by setting the volume of the burning in material slightly above comfortable listening levels, so the chances of you damaging your headphones before you notice the blood coming from your ears is slim.
