x2 to Bonthouse and nc8000: Sennheiser HD25 are among the most durable and tough headphones I know of. Even the steel wire is hard to break. Most parts like headband, pads and drivers are easy to find and replace. You can drive them without an amp, are pretty neutral and while not huge, they have IMHO a bigger soundstage than most Grados.

Rgrds

Grados are more durable than they feel (they survive any drops or falls or anything without a sweat), but still feel really flimsy in the hand. The iGrados are the best effort by Grado to date to make something durable, but the cord on them feels pretty flimsy to me and I'm guessing it wouldn't hold up well to wear over time.

AKG K81DJ's, as formerly mentioned, are pretty robust. Sennheiser HD-25's, Sony V6's, same deal: very durable. Downside is that they're all closed. Honestly if I had to put my money on one headphone, it would be the Sony V6's, because those things are truly built like a tank.

I used to own a pair of AKG K181DJ's and they were virtually indestructible. Plus they fold and are easily transported without things breaking or snapping off. They sound good for their price and if you mod them, probably much better. Soundstage is OK, but nothing special.

HD25-1 - Indestructible, great SQ, soundstage acceptable. Grado for durability. Mmmmmmmmmm ............ I don't think so.

cheers
